DAMN!!!!!!!!!
-
it would be interesting to know if the inside of the frame was rusted or how many time that frame had been cut and welded back together or if at all and just not strong enough for the nasty landing.
-
Or could it be built ala "duct tape wally"?
-
that too!
-
Dang
-
That makes my legs hurt. It looks like very small tubing used in the triangulation/ cross bracing.
-
.........fold here.................................. then it fits a short toyhauler............................. the hinge latch broke?
LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO :m :m :m :m rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl
Well,I hope all made it without serious injury.

Say, not to get all grammarly on you, but I do like semantics more than Zumba! So:
they are both fine just broken legs
See, in my world, "broken legs" does not equal fine. I understand they are not dead, or paralyzed, or whatnot. But, again, "broken legs" does not really work out to be "fine" in my world.
Maybe I have just not been kicked hard enough in the nuts to understand that "broken legs" are "fine?" kick

LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO True!!!

;D ;) rofl your right, they are alive but have broken legs. hobbled is better than dead if they can heal and walk again but again i couldn't find the article to what the turn out really was. only heard statements of what it said.

where did you find that pic? link me to that post if on fb if you would.

Something went really wrong there. It’s crazy that the shocks in single shear and the beam stayed on the car. Honestly this is a very typical frame setup for an older beam car. It has bracing where it should be. We can clearly see weakness now in hindsight and can say where more bracing should have been. I wonder if the tube was just too thin
-
I'm pretty sure that's a Chenoweth 4LWD too. Not just some home build gone wrong
-
i have personally converted several barrien buggy frames to a arms. all but 1 were low side frames but all were .095 and .083 wall erw. something else is did it rust from the inside out and weaken it. funny comment was made on fb post and that was......this is what happens when people convert beam rails to a arms as they weaken the structure as it was designed. i was extremely polite when i replied but i about fell out of my chair laughing when i read that LMAO the bent rail pictured is just a bad deal. prob combination of 4 diff issues or more but def was strong enough for that landing. punkur67 is right.........easy enough to say that now but may have been easy to say before if one had saw it in person but we will never know.
-
and people wonder why I overbuild most everything I build.
-
i can see that but i have always known why you do.
-
yup.
-
that isn't what came to mind as much as the accident on the drag strip but yes that is a good reason!
-
oh, you mean this one. Really wish I had had a better camera 32 years ago.

I walked away. I thought I was unhurt for the following 20 years till I found out I had broken C5. No,I didn't go to the hospital after the wreck.
