Installing a new tv and fridge in the truck this week and they run on either 12 or 110v.
Question is..
Should I run them 12v or run them off the inverter? Reason I ask is, it seems the inverter would give a much cleaner consistant power.

My vote - 12 with 2 -6 volt deep cycles tied together right.

I'm adding 6 6v batteries and included my concern to original post. The inverter will be hooked up reguardless.

Cleaner power on inverter, sure, but also drain on supply as it is an unnecessary element of the equation. You gain nothing but another piece of stuff in the loop.

Once on camp site hook up to 110, the fridge will thank you for it.

invert 110 from a good inverter such as xantrex. I think 98% effecient. Xantrex are a bit more monet but they monitor and addyears to a battery bank. They are top of the line and are so good at maintaining the batteries that adding water is almost a thing of the past. Everything is automatic,it even monitors battery temps. I'd suggest using only Trojan deep cycle batteries also.

Aw,hell, you are doing this in your truck. Never mind.

No your right. I have a big xantrex inverter and am adding 6 6v trojans to handle the hotel load, just like an rv. My question was which would be better, put less load on batteries, provide the cleanest power to my electronics. Tv and fridge will run on both voltages. When the batteries drop below 12v will it hurt my chit? The inverter will hold 110v even when batteries drop. It just pulls them down faster. Also going to use them for additional led light bars and much bigger stereo.

Is yours an inverter/charger or invert only? DO you have onboard generator? Many of the xantrex inverters will auto start the gennie when voltage drops below user defined threshold.
-
To answer your question though,I feel that inverting 110 is best for appliances such as fridge.

I have a Xpower 3000plus inverter. It does not have charging or gennie control. I do not have a gennie yet but a remote start honda 3000 is on the list along with a mini split AC to cool the truck. Kind of like my own APU that doesn't cost 10k.

WIll the 6-6V batteries only power inverter or double as truck starting batteries?

Inverter only, truck has 4 1100cca 12v batteries to start/run truck.
-
You charging the 6v bank with truck alternator then while running down the road? I assume truck is 12v and 6v are wired in series/parallel to have 12v?
-
Yes to all with 150amp alternator and this isolator.

Sounds to me like you have thought this out well.
-
that's a kickass isolator also!!!!!!
-
I like that isolator, have not seen one of those before.
How long are you planning on sitting without the motor running? My goose neck will go a couple days without charging running the fridge and TV/stereo/ water pump/lights. It has 2 12V deepcycle batteries. The problem with it is the genie uses the house batts to start and if you run it to low you have to hook up the truck to charge it up a little. Have a charging line through the whip. MAkes for fully charged batt's when you show up.......
Thinking of adding a starting batt for the genie, that isolator looks like the right one for adding another batt. I hate the diode ones.
