Nice build Jet!
How are you liking those Kumho's out back? Those have been the best bang-for-the-buck I have ever put on anything as far as tires go.

Jet glad to see you make it over! I believe that in time you will find that this is a great place to spend time. the car looks fantastic. I have always wanted to install the shift indicator on my build. How do you like it?

Anyway great to see you again and thanks for all your support on the other forums. I hope this place become a place where you can spend alot of time sharing your builds and info. Great work Jet.

Thanks guys, Doug, the shift light i dont use, in fact i dont even look at it, you can feel when to change gears(no, not red line ;)) but the gear indicator is great, best thing i've added to the buggy. I know what gears to take it easy on as im nursing a couple of them untill i get a chance to crack the cases and fix it all up.

Also, Tonight i just Passed CAMS.

That means its all legal and ready to race pro now! not just northam.

Very cool jet, after owning air shocks and coilovers, In pic 2 is why i dont like airs, Body roll sux with them... ;D Very cool pics indeed, were is the last picture of you going end for end? ;D

that body roll is crap all, everyone else was rolling just as much as that.
I didn't go over, lucky tho! thankgod for the upswept nose.

I don't have a problem with body roll at all. It stays very level actually. I still need to add oil to them so they will get even stiffer afterwards. I think a lot of it has to do with how they are attached.

Body roll is dependent on many things.IMO an air or coilover will act similarily if properly tuned to the use it will see.

Just an IMO is all, i have owned both, and i will now only use coilovers i believe...

All else being equal theoretically an air should be more progressive and therefore less body roll but with dual rate c/o's and adjustable crossover collars the line does blur a bit.

IMO and may not be accurate, a longer stroke shock will be less progresive than a shorter as well...Air shock that is, I know on my airs the first few inches were very plush, inducing the body roll, were the coilovers start to work much much faster...

That could be true or not depending on the spring rate on the tender spring. If used for flat tracking you'll want a stiffer tender than for a dune car that must soak up a lot of travel. BIG generality but you know what I mean.I'm under the weather tonite.Night guys! Play nice. ;D ;D ;D ;D

I did edit to include my description as relative to an air shock above... Sorry for the hijack jet, car looks sweet as hell, how about some videos?

Nice ride Jet!!  Is that a starter for reverse, and how is it working for you??

Yah, I had the same question.  Could we get some closeups?

How much static toe in do you have?

We are still open for discussion over on the "rack spacer" thread.  ;D

Actually on the last picture I think that the camber gain is what looks like toe in.

From the drivers seat it was probably the last thing on your mind.  :o

Did you try that again to work out the kinks, or advoid that section?  ;)

Sorry boys, i didn't see the posts.
My reverse is a starter motor. i designed the system up about a year ago, it hasn't been a problem so far, light reliable and gets me out of the shits when i mess up.

i went over that bump 3 times, i have to make it clear that it was a big pile of dirt, not a jump. but i was hitting it like a jump to make up some time, consitering i had the upswept nose i was confidient with doing it, untill i saw the pictures.
I only really shat myself 5 times in the race, jumps like that wernt arnywhere near as scary as going 170km/h behind someone's dust, watching there dust light move side to side and trying to follow the same path so you dont click the fence line or the malley trees!

That sounds like fun!  Cept for the fuses.....  after 3 I would have installed a bolt in place of the fuse. ;D

Sounds like a lot of paper work...  What is the logbook?  For safety equipment?

Under our CAMS regs (confederation of  Australian Motor Sports) every competing car has to have a log book. This operates for the life of the vehicle (has pics and description to identify the vehicle it belongs to). About the size of a passport.

This log book is presented at scrutineering and stamped as passed or not (if not, the faults are listed in log book) should you present up to another race with the same fault unfixed you wont be permitted to run. If the car is every badly damaged course officials enter this into the log as well for future refernce.

It shows any buyer how old the car is, what events its done what damage its sustained. Pretty usefull.

Ahhh....i remember that from my days as a nav in a Super 1650.  Going down a straight flat in 3rd, just shifted into 4th and then the dust clears and there is a bloody big tree in the way!  Racing is a blast, just have to convince the better half of that now!

We had a roll over in the prologue of my first ever race as a nav that put us out of the event. Sounds like yours was a lot nicer first race.

Great build and im jealous your getting seat time. Tuning emulsion shocks to keep the back down is not easy, good luck.

Hey Jet,

I was around at Digrite today and caught up with your old man, doing what he likes most, operating machinery in interesting and almost foolhardy ways!  Looks like I've got another week's reprieve on moving the lathe (three tons of fine Australian cast iron).  Thank Christ.  It's pissing down here at the moment and I had to engage 4WD when I tried to get the Truckster through the mud and onto the slab!  Looks like I'm going to have to tear down half the old shed to get the lathe onto the plinth.

BTW, I'm fitting the data logger tomorrow night and reflashing the K8's ECU, (in the cleanroom).  Bring your extractors over and I'll fit a bung so you can use the datalogger while I'm away.

Cheers,

Camel
