as of this point there are no events listed for 2019 on either site. utv invasion is a roaming nation wide event. the others are, i think set up by sand rats camp ground. so i posted asking if there's any sxs events set for 2019 yet. we'll see..........
-
looks like utv take over is either may 16 - 18 or third week of may. no one has posted on any other events.
snake hunt Thursday, April 25, 2019
banshee hq ride Thursday, June 6, 2019
all that is posted so far
-
fabr you had better get your 4 sxs's polished up for may!! ;D honestly the event may be fun, won't be any decent rides due to the large number of people but the over all event may be fun. with that many younger people there will be plenty of crashed toys to view to see the diff weak spots.

-
LATE APRIL OR MAY WORKS FOR ME. I BET KIM WOULD BE UP FOR IT TO.
-
zoomies? deranged? grimm?
-
I'll need to check the calendar. I know that we're planning on taking a family trip to D.C. in June, so it will depend on how busy we are at work, and if the wife wants to watch the kids, come with, or take her own vacation leaving me with the kids.
-
Ok week of April 22 or April 29. We will be there if a major life change don’t happen lol
-
Snake hunt week is April 22 thru 28. I would propose the following week of April 29 thru May 4th.
Carl, when you say "week of", you mean starting Monday? If so this would work. I just checked the site and they show 14 spots open for that week. All in favor say eye!!!
-
eye

Eye eye captain
Don’t think snake hunt has been all that lately according to what Ive read it used to be. So hopefully the sand will not be to bad.
-
Sand will be fine. If everyone settles on the date I'll edit title of thread . We need to hear from others first.
-
EYE on April 29 thru May 4th
-
April 29 June 4 sounds good to me. I will arrive sometime on the 1st. Maybe this time i will make the group dinner, especially if it happens on Thursday the 2nd.
-
can't make that one. Will be pulling back from Yuma on the 29th and 30th. As of right now my son and his girl friend will be with us and they have to be back at work on the first. HOLD ON I just had a brain fart. Whooooooooooooooooooooooooosssssss. I can make my reservations and when we come thru LS I'll leave the trailer with the sand car in it and drive the kids on home then turn around and drive back down to LS.

damn fast your up on the way to the entrance!
You are right. That's all that was left.
-
fast and doug did you make it to glamis yet?? did the wind blow you guys off the road lol
-
btw both of them dyno'd there rails at the same dyno but have forgotten to post the results up. i will wait and let them! the new turbo helped fast's and dougs yellow rail needs one! ;)
-
I know the numbers. Glens WOW :swig:. Dougs pretty good for … his words, a worn out motor. :nw

Pulled in last night about eight oclock. Wind was bur tel all the way but for yesterday when we left Roswell NM.
-
I know the numbers. Glens WOW :swig:. Dougs pretty good for … his words, a worn out motor. :nw
I was way happy with my numbers Dave and yes Dougs motor and turbo are very tired. I think doug will be happy with what he has for right now. He has the Tatum for the big HP and with luck we will get to see it come spring.
-

Yes Brian you all will get the video when I can find out how to change the format on the cell phone videos. I can email it to some one if they can change it from a mov to something this site will take. Can't down load.
-
upload to youtube straight from your phone. doug said the wind was bad on the drive down.
-

i talked to the previous owner and he thinks it was 6 or 8 years ago it was freshened up. it was a stock used engine that had a slight knock so they tore it down, new bearings and new rings. so on the up side if doug rebuilds it atleast it hasn't been bored and already at it's limits.

Cool! You happen to have a pic of the dyno chart/graph?
-
i asked to see dougs graph but never received a pic. i never saw one of fast's either. i would like too on both though.
-
torque curves tell a lot more.
-
that's why i asked ;D
-
that's why i asked ;D
I'll ask Chris if he will send me a picture of it. We never got a screen shot of the graft.
-
would be nice to see one of dougs too. i like to know where the turbo began to spool.
-
I will see You all their.
-

I'm ready, looks like its gonna work out. :m
-
good to hear. better get a spot reserved! not sure if there are too many left.
-
. I thank there was 5 left in cowboy
-
I started on the buggy the other day. New left front spindle made, parts at powder coat, changing all the suspension bolts (some had some decent wear on them) and all new heim joints. One thing I learned was that I need to tighten all the suspension bolts before every trip. My bad.

well i will agree, that is the best pre trip check ;) ;D ;D but dare i ask how and when you learned this?? :nw beathorse.gif~c200 rofl

Lucky I was checking and changing all hardware out. But the ones that were loose, of course had the worst wear on them. I always make sure I don't have "threads in bearing". When the suspension is loaded up, they didn't seem loose, but as soon as it's jacked up, it was obvious. The rear trailing arms pivots and very front on the A arms were the worse.
Live and learn, just like the "tow ball" video. Wow. Never have heard of that, but makes common sense.

99% of all buggies do though. People just don't know or care to do it right. I'm with you though. All mine are correct. Takes some doing but definitely worth it.
-
Yeah I bought longer bolt and cut excess threads as to keep the smooth shank on the heims.
I booked my spot a month or 2 back. All way down on left.
Got a couple small things to wrap up.
-
fast....you have your rail all buttoned up and dialed back in after that little run in with the sand?? ;D
-
I am POSITIVE there are a few pics floating around of the "run in"..
Or my dumb phone picked up a stray transmission from Qatar of a rail that looked like Fast?
I suppose anything is possible ;D
-
did one of those stray transmitions from qatar look like this?? ;D

Fast is being a bit quiet about his adventures.
-
i guess doug rubbed off on him ;) i did catch a couple more pics the show the cause of that little run in. builder of the rail or spindle builders fault ! i am amazed they last that long and fast is damn lucky that didnt happy at any real speed!
-
i know fast will make all stronger and better!

the other spindle was getting ready to let go too. both were tig welded just not greatest i guess.
-
Way too many people need their hands slapped for even touching a torch.
-
No pictures and it didn't happen, but after we got it up on three wheels, three hills over I put it on it's lid. :nw
-
Does fast need a serious detune?????????? Maybe a just a 1915 vw transplant??????? ;D ;D ;) ;) ;)
-

i've suggested that then it was explained to me why we never suggest such things rofl rofl
-
the failure was definitely from the person that welded the spindles!! just glad fast wasn't injured or anyone else.
-
I ain't skeered..................
-
well i know your not lol

All new and ready to go..

looks a lot better! 2" hollow? did you weld them? how thick is the plate the caliper bracket bolts to?
-
Those look Glenn!
Looking at the pictures of the broken ones... Doesn't appear to have much for penetration. Looks like they just melted filler material into the joint. Glad no one got hurt. I'm especially glad it didn't happen while you were tearing through the whoops at LS with me as your passenger. ;D
-
way to say your only thinking of yourself grimm, ....... rofl LMAO
-
At least Glenn didn't stand it on it's nose @70 mph...................................
-
rofl oh ya hand stand harry ;) grimm you are lucky you werent on that ride lol. he got lucky
-
:m Glenn stood the car straight up in the air ,nose down about 18" off the ground. Could have tossed a coin on whether it was going over or not.Came back down luckily though. The frame didn't like it so much.
-
LMAO!!
Glenn is one hell of a wheel-man! Drive it hard, break it and drive it even harder!
-
Put it on it's nose at LS. And now put it on it's side at Glamis. Chasing John from OutFront in a run out to the big race one day, during a hard left I slipped it over a ledge and up on it's side it went fifty MPH on two wheel's Sand Savior was riding shotgun and could have wrote his name in the sand, I was able to turn the car hard right and save it. Back on all four and never lost a spot in line. The guy behind me said he could see every detail of my belly pan. That was the week before I rolled it when i was on three wheel's. So with luck the third time was a charm I got lucky and was just barely moving when it went over with just me in it. I'll be rolling into LS on the twenty ninth for the spring fling. Who want's to be the first rider? :nw
-
LMAO i'll let the new guy go first LMAO
-
Take Doug first. Show him how he's supposed to drive his new TT setup.
-
I was hoping to make it to your spring trip, at least for a "trial run", but not going to make it now. Outfront is not receiving the ecu's on order. Absolutely no fault of John's, though. My progress is slow because most of my build is experimental, but getting closer.

Well, that sux. You should be able to make it to the fall get together. New guys are always welcome!!!

are his ecuns coming from australia? last i knew he was using the link ecu's. i have wondered why he hasn't changed to something local to the usa?? well i hope he gets a shipment in soon so you can test and tune. fall trip should be fun!
-
No, he recommends the Stinger for my project. But they have been discontinued, and he talked them into making him some, one more time. He has mentioned problems such as Chinese holidays, etc. He thinks 2 more weeks, so I am going to go ahead and widen my front end and finish up as much small stuff as possible.
-
are you sure you want an ecu that will be ( from the sounds of it ) discontinued after this last batch? big dave, mitch, fast.......what are you guys running for ecu's from john??
-

I'm running the Stinger. I have not been total happy with it. It does work. just not tuning friendly.
-
i wonder what ecu he will go with to replace the stinger? several to choose from and some better than others and priced accordingly lol
-
has anyone checked weather? fabr, when are you heading over? i guess my wife spoke with fastns wife and they decided wens would be a good day for a potluck dinner?? who all is actually going to make it and when?
-
I'm here now. Beautiful weather for now. It may suck a couple days though.
-
it will be what it will be. looks like tues is a pretty good chance of rain. wens thurs and fri look good and cool especially for intake temps! ;D
-
The forecast looks pretty good to me. A few chances of rain, but overall, perfect weather for drinking beer in the sand. I would guess the biggest group to be Thursday? I heard sandsavior might be down that day?

I run a 6860 Motorsports, It is antiquated too. And going by the wayside. Thinking about going with the new Holley stuff like Jerry just put in his.
-
That would be a good choice.
-
well it rained a lot while we were there but always a great trip with great people. there were a few break downs ;D but still some good rides! had a lot of fun as always and very good food at the group dinner. dougs tatum is a beast and damn heavy rofl several of us weighed our rails......i cannot believe mine is 1960 lbs!

after running behind doug, allan and mike my go pro lens looks like it was cleaned with sand paper rofl so here is a shit video of mike breaking in his son lol music courtesy of youtube.

The old saying that any trip you can load the car up under its' own power is a good trip is just BS. I swear these Brodix heads are truly trying my patience.
-
i bet they are! i looked over and saw coolant shoot out of your motor and people scattering and though...how in the hell!
-
Another cracked water jacket in the head. I'll bolt on the spare set and send these back ,again, to Brodix. bs1
-
On a side note,I'm beginning to think it's all DTS fault.I mean,it has only had issues when we meet up!! :m Must be a connection somehow. LMAO Goddammit! I need a small dose of Carlluck!!

-
Ya, I called back to Brian on the radio that Mike just roosted his own son. lol. LMAO We called this ride a training video for the next generation of dune'rs.

This pic is all I have. Fast towed the beast back, but it was a bear getting him rolling. As soon as we got back, it fired up, WTH.. And Riley is doing better, got him on CBD dog treats. He likes em b:1 :m
-
I have been waiting for that pic to surface! I assume there was the ceremonial signing session??

O Ya. And Mitch was so right, that was a sled to get rolling. Good thing it was not down in a hole or it would still be sitting there.
-
THE big issue with a big car. Other than that, with enough HP,they are great.
-
i'm impressed he got it pulled back at 4150 lbs! i had some pics doug sent me but i deleted them already so cannot post them. if doug gets on he can post them.
