gear strip inside? If you mean my steering. I got it wet washing the car and burned out the control board. late Wednesday it started locking up. not sure what the deal with that is.

That shouldn't be the PS . It is just a viscous coupling with a straight thru shaft.Nothing I know of in the PS that should lock up SFAIK.

well it just so happens i screwed up the first eps saturn vue i bought, lol      inside that unit is a large plastic type gear. it is possible that gear jammed or broke inside. it like an xxxlg version of a window motor in a car door.

Ended up that the shaft was binding in the support at the steering wheel. just a brass bushing,  add some sand and bingo binding up. i have used that bushing model and the same housing with a bearing in it......i have the bearing one now and it sure is a sloppy fit! your style i pulled every year and cleaned and greased and never had an issue.
