Busa FNR chaincase.

Those are pics of parts of test unit built to test suitability of the silent chain in a final drive.

Howdy Mast, the first pics looks like a simple drive using the silent chain? The next lot are of the FNR setup?

oh....just read further, it was a test setup.. did that actually get into the rear of a buggy? Obviously it proved suitable or you wouldnt have gone on to the next step. Did you notice any great friction losses with the silent chain vs a roller?

Isnt it amazing how much time is involved in creating a new concept? If im not mistaken your the dude working on the planetry fnr setup???

Yes it was in the buggy that was destroyed in a fire a year ago last Labor Day.
  Silent chain has a very low friction loss. Far less than roller.THe type I'm using actually forms an involute tooth profile as it engages/disengages the sprockets.
  Time? I've lost track of the hundreds of hours involved in this.

Yes,a planetary provides the reverse function.Reverse has a 1.8:1 further gear reduction.
