Title: rv gps
Post by: dsrace on June 22, 2015, 09:36:09 PM
i bought a new rv gps, i don't have it but they wanted $49 to update the maps in mine and this one comes with lifetime updates and has far more options than mine. cool little unit or looks like it. ran mcnally made 3 models for rv's but they are no longer because i guess they didn't see large sales which makes sense since most tow there's 40 miles or so then store them. they do make a tablet for the truck industry that looks pretty good. i will like the weather feature. there is a 7730 i saw still available on amazon but $300        funny thing is my wife went into best buy for me to get an 8g sd card for it and had a sales clerk ask if she needed help. she told him ( about mid 20's) what she was looking for and that it was for a gps and he asked which one. she said ran mcnally and he said he had never heard that name so she said have you ever heard of an atlas........he said no what is that and she said a paper map! he said he has never used one just the gps on his phone  rofl really sad when you think about it.

the weather function is wi fi only so you do have to update it when you stop the speed warning as in your speeding get annoying but the road curves warning is handy while driving after dark.

My GPS is connected to the phone via blue tooth.  From that the web.  Weird getting weather alerts and traffic updates on the GPS.  Damn thing will reroute me around accidents, etc.

Cool.  But weird.

Truck gps do the same stuff and include red light cam intersections as well as reported speed trap areas. Not a big problem for me since I drive so slow. Mine have a setting for over speed warnings as well. You can set it for speed + ??? before it warns you. Yours may have it in the settings also.

Voice command,I like that.

My dog supposedly came with that feature.  His works about 50% of the time.

Does the GPS have a higher success rate on voice commands?  Does it poop in the house?

You can check weather on the smart phones as you drive down the road! Just need cell service. Get with the times. Going to have to start calling you hillbilly. :) :) :)

???????

his phone wouldn't access the net before he left and it had something to do with the phone plan he was on so for the trip home he didn't have his phone to guide his butt back lol  with an atlas behind the seat wouldn't be an issue especially after your 4th trip.
