Title: Wiring dual fans
Post by: Wyattboche on July 19, 2011, 02:58:02 AM: I bought 2-7" electric 12volt fans. Does someone have a wiring diagram on how to wire up dual fans with relay? Thanks

The ONLY reason I suggest he use just one relay is that on a MC engine buggy we are relying on the paltry amps available. Another amp for a relay is just another amp not available for lighting and other accessories. I agree that with a capable charging system the dual relays are best. Redundancy is a GOOD thing off road.

If one relay goes bad you can jumper the second fan into the good relay and run both also.

There going on a tranny cooler. Would I need to run both or can I get away running one?Also what size fuse should I use as the main for both fans?

Post by: Carlriddle on July 19, 2011, 01:14:25 PM: Depends on how many watts they draw. watts/12v=amp Ex 50w/12v=4.15amp So a 5amp fuse.

You could have ea come on at diff temp, one a little higher than other. If you put them on seperate relays, I'd put on a seperate fuse. (for same reasons)
