Remember the roughly 1:2 gear ratio INCREASE that yu would get in reverse.Be pretty high geared reverse.
Think of a diff in a car, or the whole carrier. Left axle is input and right axle output. Lock the diff and you have forward, onlock the diff but lock or hold the carrier stationary and the output shaft would turn in reverse. I know it is not ideal because of chains to the input and output to the center carrier. But it should be fairly strong and if the diff gears grenade they should be cheap to come by at the junk yard. Tell me if im stupid before I go into more detail.
1:1 ratio in forward, 1:1 ratio in reverse. You only get the 1:2 ratio if you lock one output shaft and spin the diff housing, the result is one turn of the diff housing equals 2 turns of the free spinning output housing..
NVM open mouth insert foot...... now your going forward half as fast.... OH well.
