Welcome To The Future

Like it or not it's hard to argue with the raw power of electric performance. As battery tech marches on it will only get better.

charge time is the issue to me

i agree if it takes more than 6 hrs to fully recharge. the run time though if your down on power because of low batt after 1 to 2 hrs of spirited run time then that just doesnt work. i say that as ls may not be long runs but 4hr run time for sure at st a!!

now if they set it up like a hybrid with say a 1 cyl genny to assist batt for longer run time and shorter recharge time then that would be great except it defeats the weight loss from all electric.

Pretty cool if you ask me.  Looks as if the suspension was dialed in very well too!  I would like to see it over some woops.

ok so visited there site. first off.....no f ing way! who thought that was ok to build! starts at $28k and 3300 lbs to 5300lbs depending equipment! how? how could it be that heavy.....thats heavier than dougs v8 tatum pre runner! 150 mile range and 6hr charge time on a 240v plug. if you get there 12v pack its 3 hrs but what does that charger pack cost. i cant get past the weight and price vs hp.

It is still the future, As can be seen,it is not intended for dunes. It is targeting off road use-hardpack. Weight is not much of an issue there and in many ways is preferrable.  Would I want one now? Nope ,but they will be improved, price will come down and they will be the future. Remember, everyone said sxs's would never take over yet here we are. Look around the dunes/desert and see the ratio of sxs's to "real buggies". Probably 10:1 now are sxs's. Hell,at LS it's more like 30:1.

weight vs HP. Look at the torque at the wheel of it and compare that to the torque at the wheel for a v-8 gas vehicle. I'm not talking motoror engine torque. I'm talking at the wheel after gear reductions.

From their website:
With 100% of torque available quickly, the Nikola NZT™ delivers remarkable performance right out of the gate and continues delivering up to 722 ft-lbs of peak torque! That is before gear reduction. After the reduction at the wheel direct drive hub, you're looking at 2,346 ft-lbs of torque at each wheel. Multiply that by four to get nearly 9,386 ft-lbs of torque!

That is around 3 times the total torque at the tires in high gear with a 4.5ish rear gear 700+ lb.ft.v-8 engine at the wheels. 700x4.5=3150 lb.ft. Something to think about.

oh i saw the hp and tq specs. they are impressive but expected from electric motors. i also am fully aware that utvs have taken over and also understand why. i can see the elect utv becoming a thing also. my issue is weight , run time ,recharge time and price. holy crap there out there. hp per lb rating is way out there and yes i know tq is where its at but even breaking that down per lbs is up there.  i would be interested in the concept but there a long ways off yet for what i would expect. your right on the hard pack trails the weight would be better but still 150 mile range on 1 charge! for anyone thinking they dont run 150 miles.......better account for tire spin ontop of recorded miles.

I know everyone thinks they put on a lot of miles in the dunes but don't really . I only put on about 200 odometer miles in 8 hours non stop driving last week. If I had been with our group it might have topped 300.
