Personally ,I don't like the dates at all. End of week and weekend. Too crowded for my taste.

Hello, I don't have any sites reserved yet for the fall. That might be Mike. And that sounds just a little early and hot. DS, do you have any dates for the sand flea infestations? I would propose:
A - Sept 29 thru Oct 5
B - Oct 6 thru Oct 12 or
C- Oct 13 thru Oct 19
I need to log onto the reservation site and see how many spots are still open for those weeks. I'll get back wit you

Well, first they have a new reservation site, I'm still getting used to the color coding, I am kinda color blind so it's not very friendly to me. Second, if I'm reading it right, we are going to have to start booking a lot earlier. The prime weekends in Oct are almost FULL!

So we have Sept 15 thru 21 or
Oct 27 thru Nov 2. The later date will probably be too late for fast, as he will be heading to the winter playground. So if that first week will work (Sept 15 thru 21), let's get em booked. All in favor?

sept 18 thru the 22nd is banshee Banshee HQ Fall ride. so the sept 15 thru the 21 would be ok dates. the banshee guys are few in numbers and stick to the drags.
utv take over is sept 25 thru 29th. and every thing else looks to be in different months. i'm good that far out so pick one and i will get it reserved right away.

you do not need to create a login or password for the new site. i didnt care for it before and now they've made it worse. its been changed for a younger gen lol more pop up picture book like. i see they use the same pic for you site photo as they did mine. i know there are not 2 trees in site 635 as i have stayed in that site many many times. atleast the last 5 years for every trip except 1. i do like not having to use a password and login now.

Dammit! Dammit! DAMMIT!!!!!!! Seems I'm stuck with just the yxz's this trip T&D has pushed back delivery time on new adjustable rockers for the desert car till about 3 weeks after our trip. I decided to ditch the non adjustables ,gonna be cheaper/simpler in the long run anyway.Crap. I could get the trans fixed in busa buggy in time but I have decided it needs torn clear down and put together fully painted , powder coated and ready for the rest of it's life. Got other things needing done first. YXZ's it is.

did you mean labor day? I gave in and bought a new set of trailing arms for my car. after I spent a weekend repairing mine. I just could not bring myself to run it. 5: 5: 5: 5: I hope to see the new ones sometime next week. I'm sure I will have a good long weekend putting shock mounts on them and installing them. I'm still not sure my clutch is good. it felt like it was slipping when I took my 20 minute test drive on the new transaxle, that broke the trailing arm. I'm really hope I just had the clutch set a little tight. But with my luck this year I Would bet money its smoked. So to answer the question about Labor day weekend. Drowning Drowning Drowning. MAYBE. Sarcasm

I have not pulled the motor yet. I was not having any problems with it before the new transaxle. so I really hope, I just have it set to tight. I run a 2800lb clutch and a 6 puck. I just cant believe I smoked it. I had made some big adjustments to my slave cylinder when I installed the transaxle try to get the clutch to feel right. Then I realized the master cylinder was leaking buy. I have the new master cylinder I will be putting on this week end. I just hate to pull the motor aging. I'm probably prolonging the agony of it. one way or another it will be running for this trip!!!!!

understandable. after this trip my motor is coming out. i'm sending the trans off as it needs to be converted to a 4 speed. i built everything too tight so just easier to pull the motor to pull the trans. also i will be swapping to a better head. stock only flows 150 cfm and the bo port head bench flowed 220 cfm i believe. should see some improvement there. i will be setting the cam with a degree ring this time as well! while its apart i want to see what its going to take to make a diff fuel tank out of stainless that holds more than 11 gals. i want to make the st a trip next year but need a 4 speed, more fuel capacity and a little more mid range would be nice.

Just got back from a little 3 day sand fix to LS. No crowd ,on Labor Day weekend!!!!!! ??? !! It was unbelievably vacant. 4 YXZ's went ,3 came home under their own power.

Got lots of work to get done to make this one. Rebuild the spring hangers on the toy hauler and get the motor rebuilt in the truck. Will find out tomorrow just how bad the truck is. Two new spring hangers and lots of gussets on the new and old ones to be sure this doesn't happen again.

Fast, I don't think a lack of pick up or hauler should cancel your trip. I am sure everyone involved in this trip will bend over backwards to get you there. You aren't that far away. Heck, I bet people will trailer your buggy and provide any kind of "housing" necessary. Remember the 'old days'?!! (That could start a whole new thread!) If I had anything to offer, I would.

i'll be solo on this trip and i have 2 couch beds you can sleep on. i dont have a flat bed for rail transport though.

I will put up money for trailer rental, if someone could pull it from Wichita. (I think that is where your buggy is) I hope to be at LS for a couple of the days. All I have is a junky shuttle bus and a rigged flatbed trailer.

No hole in a piston Faber. Here is the evidence. Got the turbo out today and found that the stock VGT had let loose and caused a bunch of work. The hot side impeller was just a few inches from going into the top turbo of the compounds. It had worked it's way up the exhaust pipe that far.

The way the truck acted and sounded that is what I thought. But then after seeing all the oil in the pipe's I changed that diagnosis. Will have the intercooler out today to see how much crap made it that far. I am hoping that the intercooler acted like a filter and stoped most of the turbo parts from getting into the engine.

The intercooler is coming out today. New Banks intercooler will be here Friday. All depends on what's inside of it as to if the motor comes down or not>

Ok got the trailer done. Jacked it up and got the hanger's all back in place and welded. Built some stiffeners and welded them to ether side of the spring perches. Again only with the help of a good buddy Mr. Cass.

It is a wonder there are not more spring hanger failures. Probably the worst designed/flimsy thing on a trailer. Jack knifing a triple axle into a parking spot like almost all rv parking spots require put HUGE side load bending stresses on them and ,IMO, is the root of the failures.

Have had no time to replace busa trans yet. Still have another 4-6 weeks waiting for the T&D shaft rockers for the SB2.2. Both will be ready for the spring meeting. Sooooooooo,YXZ it is again this time. Dammit. I'll come down to Cowboy about 8:30 ready to ride.

I thought I would charcoal some ribeyes and slice them. A lot easier for camp food than hunks of meat. I may be there as early as Wednesday. If not, hopefully Thursday. Depends on work and physical therapy.

Ok, bad new's for Fast and miss fast. Had the injectors tested out of the truck and they did not pass inspection, the company that tested them was the company that they were purchased from, so they have to be sent back to the factory for warranty inspection. So the truck will not be done. Tried to find a rental duly today but no such luck. So unless I can come up with something to tow the mother ship to LS I'm screwed. Just not in the cards that we make it down this year. If Jerry and Kay make back from there cruise in time I might be able to catch a ride down on the back of Jerry's flatbed for a day trip. Drowning

David (SandWitch) has agreed to loan me his truck and I'll be pulling my flatbed gooseneck down with the buggy and the icecream freezer. and will be bunking with my adopted son in his motor home (maybe) that is if we can make it run. :nw

I mounted the new paddle tires and wheels on the buggy late last night. I've got to finish packing everything up, and I'll be on the road early Tuesday morning. Dune therapy is in my future. I think I have the bugs worked out of the buggy too. This time I'm going to keep the oil in the motor, and the heat out. Looks like it's going to be a HOT week with temps in the low 90's. Good thing for cold drinks, and a new fan switch to keep the coolant temps in check.

I can't wait, the sand looks to be extra smooth with the wind and dry weather there. Heading out tomorrow also. It does look warm, hopefully the wind and some shade will help, along with the cool beverages. 8)

A great trip so far. This morning we had 16 cars in the dune train. Most of the time running 45-50 mph . For LS that's a pretty fast run. I think that's the largest field dts ever had. We were short 2 members and 2 new faces. Maybe next spring we can break 20. A few new faces and a great group of good people. Life is good!!

Outstanding trip.
Great to meet all the new pep's. Can't remember all the new name's but good to meet you. Chuck and Larry, hope to meet up in Glamis for some fast sand runs with you guys. As usual, ate way too much food at the supper. One heck of a meal prepared and served up by a bunch of GRATE guys.

i really need to come up with a diff go pro mount. i also cannot find my antenna to my rugged system. i guess i will have to order a new one. despite the low rpm vibration that send the steady shot into spasmns it get some good footage.

I have an entire run on my GoPro Silver, but my phone doesn't have enough space to "download" it, and I can't get it to transfer to my laptop. I would like to put it on YouTube, just not smart enough!

so you must have a sd card in that go pro? if so put that in the laptop and copy the file. other wise you have to download go pro or a video editing program and hard wire it to the laptop, open the editing program and import it through files and folders.

Yes, it uses a card. I have previous videos from the same camera on my laptop, by using a card adapter, but the video and audio is horrible. Doesn't match and it just skips around. (If that makes sense). I have the GoPro app downloaded on my phone, and can wire the camera to it, and watch the videos with good quality. I don't know if I can download the crappy videos from the laptop and if they will then be good quality again, on YouTube. The microSD cards are supposed to be the correct ones for the camera.

i would say try it and see what happens. i have noticed in editing mode that the audio sometimes doesn't keep up with video but once converted to avi or uploaded to youtube it all match's. sound quality is absolute crap with the water tight cases on my go pro's so i never keep that anyway.

utv invasions should be starting to roll in tonight. i hope they take 1 days to have a belt pick up day. saw soooooo many blown belts on the sand. i bet law enforcement in the surrounding area and states have a boost in speeding tickets etc etc before and after these events lol

Dave, your car was fun to watch from behind. Looked like you use turning brakes to steer quite a bit! And fun listening to Doug's turbo/blow-off valve from behind!

Just TRY to stop me! Fabr, didn't get a chance to explain what happened on the last run I was in. You were following me, my throttle stuck wide open climbing the hill, out of the trails. I had to kill my motor as soon as I got over it.

Ya,I heard the engine rev to the moon. Thought you might have broke something in the driveline. Glad it was "just" a stuck throttle.

which model of cam do you have? i really like the quality of the pic and the fact it records at a frame rate of 60! my old hero 2's only do 30.

Mine is a Hero4 Silver. I don't really know how to use it. I will learn editing next. I have 2 more 17 minute videos from our runs, but they aren't downloading to YouTube. I will try again. I have a few old videos from a different version of my buggy(VW) aimed out the back that I am going to work on, also.

i think carl runs the hero 4...... i think. do you have a water proof case and an open or just 1 style case? i ask because the sound quality is better then hero 2 inside my water tight case. also i have to put a new lens on mine every 1 or 2 years depending from the sand.

I am using the open back case. But the lens is covered. It was mounted far enough away from the motor that you can't tell how hard I was actually driving. They make an external microphone, but I don't have one. I like the way you add music, but I can't figure out how to do that.

i have an open rear go pro case but have always worried the sand would get up inside it. there are times in your videos i can hear your motor singing pretty good. i can also hear you dont like to drop below mid range either......i can relate to that lol i'm geared to high and i am missing bottome end. i edit on adobe premiere elements 9 software. its not free but not expensive. def not the greatest but i had the early version for a few years and already knew it. i had to go with 9 because hero 2 was mp4 format and my old adobe wasnt compatible. you kept up very well in your videos. as a matter of fact in one of your videos, as we were hitting the trails, you pulled up on me then drove past my nose. you can see that moment in one of my videos. those would be good clips to have both go prons to blend into 1 video. i should copied yours while i was there.

I personally like the engine sound. I cranked your videos up on the stereo, full screen on the PC, felt like I was there again! :s
