St Anthony's Idaho Aug 5-9 2024 Group Ride Days
« on: July 04, 2023, 10:43:44 AM »
I vote we plan a trip for 2024 or 2025 for a big group ride. To me St Anthony's is better than Glamis.

My fuel tank in the buggy is 20 gallons.  I was able to make it to Choke and Devil's Dune and back if I took it easy on the way out.  However once the tank was below 30% I started seeing lots of fuel pressure drops with the fuel sloshing so much.  Plan to add a surge tank gravity fed from the main tank now. The sump I put on the main tank wasn't large enough to compensate. Always something to add or change but that's the fun part.... Sometimes.

I'm up for group trip.  I'm thinking early fall/late summer 24. I want time to fully prove out the new engine first.

You really should/might consider Holley Hydramat instead of a surge tank. Pricy but really the best way. I'm going to do that soon. I want to be able to use every last drop of my 27 gallons without even a hint of a pressure drop. Hydramat has been around now for near 10 years and pretty well proven to work as claimed.

I've been looking at St.A usual/normal temps both day /night. Looks like a window of mid July to mid August would make for the best with a couple weeks either side being likely good warm days with cool nights.  Opinions?

The only 2 times we have gone was during the first 2 weeks of aug. Only time of year I can take a full week off as well. Both trips were great weather imo.

I don't remember what time of year it was but one trip i spent the 4 days there in the toter watching TV since it was low 40's and a constant mist. Eff that. Now with heated seats and buggy heat I think it would be fun. :m  Anyhow, I can make any dates work. Need to get some input from the rest of the group.

I'm jealous. I'm 4 hours from LS. You have the baddest sand box though.

So i will take a full week off for that trip. I will leave easier Friday after work or 4:30 am sat morning. I will haul up on a flat bed and rent a camper. I will have my new 28' full width deck flat bed low boy GN by then. Might be ready this weekend.  I ordered it from kaufman trailers as they have a manufacturing plant 2 hrs from me in beaver city neb. So there is a possibility that enemy and I might load both on That  trailer and iron man a non stop drive  ;)

I am really hoping to make this trip.  I need a new motor in the buggy (this winter) and a new tow vehicle (next spring).

New motor? What happened?

So are you trading up on the motor home or going to flat bed it up?

I just need more power (boost), that 5,000 ft altitude seems to rob me.
