Seriously, Go and have some fun...
If I were to ever go again it would be a day trip stop then to LS...

Mid June is nice at ST Ann. most of the time you ride with a jacket on and it gets down in the mid 40's at night.  Good sleeping.  I heard that about killpecker.  mostly just for fourwheelers.

I don't want to go down on another college break or some huge event weekend!!!!

I have never reserved a site at ls but there are 7 other friends  with buggys that will be there sunday thru sat so if need be I could always call them and have them get me one.

You can reserve online @ www.lspsonline.com  . I always reserve a slot but that was mostly a habit from having the big trailer.

normally we camp down on the state side just at the loop so we can see everyone drive by BUT! last time we were over by the old oasis shop ( don't know what the name of the atv shop is now ) and the quieter atmosphere was nice. no more young and dumb's driving by constantly goosing those loud a$$ quads! the guys I know that are going for the week always camp down on the state side so that is probably where we will go.

common guys... who is going? I need info. I want to know if I can set up camp with someone already going. Im not familliar with the area and this will be my first time even in that part of the country, Any offers or help is greatly appreciated. I have the GPS so getting there is the easy part! I need to know when and how I can meet up with someone and be sure my buggy is ready to ride the dunes.

I have a crew (4 wheelers) going down with me Wednesday night on the 8th. Not sure when you want to head out but we will be down there late that night. There are two major campground, State side and the Cowboy campgrounds (correct me if I'm wrong on this one sombody!!) I'm not sure how full the place will already be, hopefuly not bad..So I'll have to figure out where to set up camp at that time.. I tent it on electrical pads with others to keep the cost down, I'd be more than happy to save you a spot. DS has a group going down even earlier to try and hold some spots together as well..

Where you located at Doug? I'll be at 1C .Go to here
  http://www.lspsonline.com/cgi-bin/campsite_select.cgi
Click on select a date and you'll see the camp layout. I'll have room for you. No cost. I have the nights of 04/08-04/11 reserved. That site is big enough for 2 and right next to it is a spot nearly as large but is not for rent. I always camp there as I basically get 2 26X85 sites for the price of one.  PM me if you are wanting to show up on the 8th as you will need a permit if you arrive before me.
Enemy it is where I was last time. All the sites at LSPS are pay sites @30 bux or more per night. This trip it is 30 bux and 4 nights minimum to reserve. It appears the sites across from it are reserved. Those guys usually have full size sandrails.

I called FOx early in the week and they were working OT to play catch up. I learned that FOX had just recently gotten a millitary contract and thats why there so behind. Real answer... Your shocks are not here yet and I have 2 other customers waiting just like you. They were real quick when I first started as a dealer but recently the factory has been behind. I am hoping to have them this week.

Im really up for this trip. I have off work from tues the 7 through the week. The drive is 15.5Hrs. plus I may need to stop for a time or 2. better figure 16 to 17 hrs. If I leave early AM on Wed. I can be ther in the later evening of the 8th. I need to leave either Fri night or Sat morning.

I think Ill take you up on the area. I would just sleep in the back of my Trail blazer.

You posted the campsite info in another thread......  I will have to find it.

Edit:  Never mind it is on the previous page..  ::)  I will be there friday.

Edit:  Hate to say it but their map sucks.  "Map not to scale" is the key.  Of course it has been a while since I camped there.  :D  So 1c is behind what used to be the Oasis?  They have added a lot there.  So the dune entrance is south about 1/4 mile.  Anyone know what the daily gate fee is now?  $6?

THere is the north dune entrance right at the south edge of town. Then there is the entrance to LS Powersports that has the gas pumps. South of that is the south dune entrance.I will be at LS Powersports where the gas pumps are. WHen  you turn into LSPS take the road on the right,go to top of hill and 1C is right there on your left.

I don't doubt 23", I was just going off of what stewart told shane. 23"  has got to be a record! not to meantion all the accidents on the roads from the locals that don't know how to drive in snow! did you friends go ride in the snow? how long did they stay?

lol!! ya I like it 65 - 70 degrees. If it would stay that temp all year long I would be in heaven! jeans and a long sleeve shirt make 55 degrees very comfortable. I was down at LS one year, with some friends that apparently like the heat, and it hit 95 degrees! I got so hot I started to get the shakes and had to go sit down in the shade and started downing cold water. this is why my trailer has a/c now! and those early june trips won't happen ever again for me!!!!

well there's no way the new SR2 with built/turbo motor will be done, but I think i'm gonna bring another one out for a shake down run so I can ship it off to the customer.  It's the old body style, and it's a bone stock motor with sprocket drive, but it should still be fun.  It's been ready for testing for a while, just haven't been able to get it out......

Took this quote off of another thread. Didint want to highjack much more and be off topic.

So how much for that complete car kit to be left at my house on the way home?  Sounds like a motor and frame short of a test drive.  ;D
We will talk about it on Friday. If your serious. This way you can see first hand the parts and quality. As for a frme and motor. Yeah thats about it. Well and a few other things like seat, steering column, pedals, tires , rims (Im only bringing 1 rear). If I need fronts in an emergency Im sure I can buy some at the local speed shop. Ill have my check book with. Never know what deals I might find. Also if I come home with an empty trailer and a pocket full of cash that will work too.

Well Im already to go boys! Flags will be flying high!

My brother is currently laid off work and he decided to join me for the trip. He does not have a machine to drive. I dont really see him too much and this will be a great trip for us to bond some. He said he would like to go just for the camping and bull $hit. Hes never been around buggies like I have and this will be his first rip to any dunes. DS already offered his empty passenger seat to take him out for the experience. Your a champ DS! Anyway see you all there!

The wife and I are prob. gonna head out early Sat. morning, and I believe I have 3 or 4 buddies going out as well.  Doubt we'll be spending the night, so maybe I can find somewhere to park the truck/trailer for the day if they're not too packed, which i'm hoping they're not since the big weekend is next weekend.........

I was told the burn ban is lifted. (unfortunately, I burned the last wood I have this weekend, so I have none to bring.. :-[) I'm staying till Sunday Morning. I have a crew of 7 coming down with me. Some or the DS crew got there yesterday to an empty park with ALL of the state campsites reserved with empty tents. I guess there is a new law that says you can grab sites two weeks before snakehunt....BS!!!!

Clark Bliss is the wood guy.  He will come thru the park with a load of fire wood every day.  Good price too.  Check with Clark and Karen Bliss they run the bunk house in town.  They have and opening some times.  I don't think they will Snake weekend but mite try.

It's 198 miles from my door step until I pull into the park.  I do about 75 most of the way (no sense it blowing more on gas to get somewhere 30 or so min. early), and there are 3 towns I drive through that are 25/30 mph for a while.  I also stop in Enid for about 15 min. to fill up and stretch the legs, which is exactly 2 hours after leaving the shop, and 1 hour from the dunes......

Yah I made the mistake of thinking it might be faster to take 135 down, then cut straight across on some crappy road, and through a bunch of little towns.  Only added an hour to the trip.  Highway 61 is gold when coming from the north.

We have tried many routes, but when coming from the north get off I-135 just past Mcpherson onto highway 61 take that to hutchinson, then to Preston where you turn south on little 2 lane to Cairo, then Isabel, where you jog back about 1 mile east.  Then Medicine Lodge, then Hardtner, Alva and Waynoka.

Yea, we use to do the same thing..man does that drive across on 64 SUCK!! I tried  156 off of 70 the last trip, seemed to work out pretty good. Just as long as there is no construction going on anywhere!

We go I35 south to Blackwell exit and take it straight across to Alva and then south to waynoka. The road 64 has been seriously improved.

I got a chance to take some photos of Dougs ride, and hear that little kitten purr.  She sounds pretty good too I might add.  Makes me want to finish mine something bad.

Well, the sand was Awesome at little Sahara.  I could only make it down for a few hours on Friday.  I enjoyed meeting Glenn (Fastcorvairs), John (Enemy) and Doug Heim.  Also saw Wes (Masterfab) and Gail (Mrs. Fabr).  I have to say corvair's green car is very nice, and you can't miss it out on the dunes.  But it is rather hard to catch on a banshee.  ;D  BTW, not corvair powered!  I really liked Doug's Barracuda.  It's always different seeing things in person to get a feel for the size etc.  The Cuda looks very agressive, and looked like it handled the sand very well.  Enemy was living up to his reputation for driving style.  The turbo was definately doing its job keeping the front wheels in the air through 3rd and 4th gear for the longest mid-engined wheely I have ever seen.  ;D  I saw DS running around as well, but never ran him down.  Next time.

Unfortunately, I commited the ultimate party foul.  No Camera.

Apparently the wind had blown earlier in the week, the dunes were higher and more peaked than I have ever seen them.  But the buggies seemed to be handling them well.  Time to get to work on the project.  :)

It was a great Time. I just got back this evening (16hr. drive 1 way). It was great to meet all of you and Im looking forward to a fall trip.

Enemy! Your a cool cat! That busa car is somthing fierce and I sure appreciated the seat time in it as does my brother. Definatly need to do it again. Most fun I have had in the dunes ever!

Brian, your a cool cat too! Definatly was a blast having you let me wheelie your machine off the dune face! What a whole different animal from what Im used to. Awesome Car! Thanks for using my brother as balast to balance the car. I know he enjoyed it!

Glenn, Your a hell of a guy to lead as I know Enemy and Master will agree. That was the funnest time I hever had in that Cuda. It really allowed me to push it to some limits and Im very happy with how it kept up to the bigger cars. Your car is one of my favorites. The overall detail in your work is phenominal! Great meeting you and look forward to future get togethers. Be sure to think over that graffics idea I tossed at you!

Carl, Wish we had more time to hang out but your a great guy in person and I look forward to getting to know you more and meet up again in the future! I know time was an issue.

Adam. great shop resources you have and I was glad to meet you as well. Part collection is looking great and meeting up with you was a breeze. 1-2 miles off the hwy! Well get together in the future for sure! LS is a 10 HR trip from your town BTW!

Last but not least. Master. What can I say? Your that guy that keeps a smile on everyones face with always giving us somthing to laugh at or talk about. Was a great plesure and look forward to it again. I dont care what anyone says about you. Your more than alright!

Again guys great trip and I look forward to it again!

Ill have pics and videos up soon I hope!

Great to hear you had a great time. I enjoyed the shit out of all you guys!!!!  I can't wait till the fall get together. All the guys are a very cool bunch! I know enemy got quite the ridge running lesson as did Doug following Fastcorvairs! LOL!!! Enemy was PUMPED up! I had the greatest time seeing him have so much fun! Ds gave me a bit of seat time as enemy also offered . Thanks guys! As I told both of you though I don't really feel right beating up on others stuff. WHen I took the wife for a spin in DS's car I thought I was just goofing around. She told me I was worse than DS! LOL!!! Just didn't wheelie it over the rise. Engineer,I really wish we could have a bit more time to BS before you had to leave.  Sorry about that!  Nice to meet your brother also.  Fast corvairs ,we'll really have to meet again!!! I know enemy really enjoyed the ridge lesson. Hehehehe.  Doug post up some of those sunset pics!!

Always nice to walk in the front door after a bit of time away..BUT DAMN!!!! I didn't want that trip to end! :'(

This has been thee BEST DAMN time I have ever had at Little Sahara guys! (and gal Mrs. Fabr!!) . I have never had such a blast running the dunes while being educated at the same time.

Dear Glenn,
Just need to let you know that you found a new little brother. I am going to become that annoying little shit of a brother that just wont leave you alone, ya know? The one that is going to shadow your every move over every dune you hit from here until the end of time. So for now all I need from you is your COMPLETE dunning schedule for at least the next ten years (for starters) and your mailing address to send you some front end pics of my car to cut and glue to your rear view mirrors...ya know, to get used to your new dune stalker!

Love,
Enemy
 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Damn Glenn!!!  SCHOOL IS OUT!!!!  :D I have to thank you for the lesson on the ridges, I learned so much from chasing you and that wicked car of yours around the park (you gotta see this car in person people!! bitchin' ride!!) I am still giddy!! Can't thank ya enough!

Wes! Thanks for the help on the car chasing down my little lean spot. Only 8 more cleanings to go! Also good to know I can keep people entertained by acting like a giggling little school boy.

Doug!! Bud, I had plenty of time on the way home to try and come up with a reason NOT to drive out to your stomping grounds and tear it up.... I sure as hell couldn't come up with one. I'll have to beat my DTS flag from DS, but we will have them flying! (I'll get him up there too, just watch..lol) You have built yourself one HELL of a car. I just wish there were a few more hours in the trip to raise some more hell with ya!! Cant wait to see the pics >:D!  :m

Engineer!! For it only being a few hours to hang out I had a blast! I hope the fall trip can better get us tearing it up some more! (I know of a good wheelie spot.. :P) I dont know who was laughing harder after that run...me, or Fabr laughing at me laughing..

Best trip ever for me guys, cant wait for the next gathering!!

Ill meet up with anyone any time if they want to make a Silver Lake trip. Little Sahara is IMO has alot more to offer and its nice that you never need to load up the buggy after every day. There is some BS about SL the LS does not deal with. The night riding is awesome too.

Silver lake does have that directional area and the whole park is not direction like some think. Its only where it should be. I actually wish LS had a directional area for safty reasons. Its easier to give it harder over a dune when you know someone is not comming over the other side.

I have 150 pics and Im working on the videos. Here are a few pics to hold you over for now.... HAPPY EASTER!

Damn Glenn!!!  SCHOOL IS OUT!!!!  :D I have to thank you for the lesson on the ridges, Best trip ever for me guys, cant wait for the next gathering!!

First let me say thank you all for the positive comments.
Second is I can finally say that a lesson I learned was put to good use.
Watch one, Learn one, Teach all.

I learned my driving style back in the ninety's when I had the golden opportunity to follow a group of minny buggy's from Seattel Washington while on a trip to St Anthony Idaho.

Third Is I had the best run at LS that I have had in last decade.  You guy's all are great pepole to be around and I am so glad I could teach my driving style.  I do have to apologise to Engineer and his Friend for breaking a golden rule that should not brushed under the rug.  I did not circle back after I lost site of you two while we were running to make sure you were ok not just lost in Doug's roost. ;D  That is the number one rule for anyone leading a group.  That said on with the thread.

Enemy thank you for not totally running off and hiding from my heavyweight and making me look to foolish.  I was ringing the shit out of the old Short Star to stay up.  I'll take them pic's to paste on my mirror's, I am so up for getting started on a minny busa build.  Master get your sheet together and getter done. Mr's Faber Mr Faber can't come out to play until the new car is done. Iff-en you want some it'll have to be while your bent over the main frame rail of the buggy and Master is turning and wrenching.  ;D ;D ;D ;D  We all need to see how the 091 is going to ring out.  I will for sure keep you all posted as to my dune schedule for the year.  Right now I am trying to get my car out of the trailer and cleaned up for the five Day trip back down to LS next week for Snake Hunt week end.  It's raining cat's and dogs here right now.

DS! was good talking to you as well I am looking at changing my bottom transfer arm's to steel just for and extra margin of safety. My shocks are mounted high as yours were.

Again Enemy I will keep in mind the graphics's we talked about. They would be pretty neat.

Once again a big thank's to all for a really cool day at LS. So looking foward to doing it again real soon.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

At least someone brought their camera!  Great pics Doug.

No problem Glen.  We should have let you know we were heading out.  I hope you didn't look for us long.  I had a technical issue with some sand under a contact, from running behind 3 buggies hauling ass.  ;D  Once that was remedied we were to beat to try and catch up, so we headed for the gate.

My brother worked 3rd shift, and I picked him up as soon as he got home.  When I  got him back home he had to shower and head back to work.  ;D  He is always game for 36 hours with no sleep for a dune run.  ;D  It was a great time.

You weren't kidding about the size of choke cherry at St Anthony's.  That pic you posted is just crazy.

I have 3 shake down runs on the new built/turbo setup that will be be starting in about a month or less, as well as some other shake down runs for other projects, so we'll prob. be out there quite a bit this year..

Little Sahara, sometime in september,,,You could prolly ride with me down or join in the convoy ;D
Getting married on the 26th, was wondering if I could use this for a honeymoon if it all works out with the miss?

I think it's mid Oct. Ask DS about the date. It's his group that will decide but I don't know when they will set the date. It can still be really hot in Sept. Oct is better usually.

ya know Engineer, when you were over a dougs campsite talking to him I was 40' away drinking a beer talking with a few friends I hadn't seen in a while. when doug walked up and said that was you I turned around and you were already gone. never did catch up with you, will have to this fall. I was thinking a trip around the first week of Oct say sat or sun thru wendsday. does that sound good?

Great pics, glad you all had a ball!

You didn't have your black flag on!  I must have had brain fade.  I dunno how I didn't notice your car.

Whatever date works for me, someone just needs to decide and put it on the calander.  Are there any big weekends to hit or stay clear of in the fall after labor day?

doug where's the video's?
It sure was nice of you to take a pic of my rail don't ya know, a!  ;D ;D  lol I had a blast even with that nasty sand storm, can't wait to do it again!!!!!!!!

I am real sorry I missed the driving lesson from glenn :( how about you let me in on the action next time glenn  ;D?  also I might have to try out one of those inline shifters can you post a link for them for my 091 transaxle pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease. glen that is one hell of a rail you put together, NICE JOB man!!!!!!!!

doug thanks for letting me get a little seat time in your rail I do miss the bike motors alot! that is a nice machine you built! I might have to build me a single seat msp and keep the v-6 for leisure drives. that was a blast, hope to see you guys down there again and if you do make a fall trip the weather is a whole lot better than that was!

masterfaber ;D  you said and I quote don't scare the wife or she might hit me, so I was nothing but nice. just hard enough to get her to grab the handle but not scream  ;D  and then what did you do (besides roosting her on the quad  :o lol !) you went and did it yourself, way to go lol  ;D. that was funny when you stopped and she said you need to get out and I need to get back in because you were pushing harder. I just about hit the ground laughing!!!!!!  I didn't get a chance to take you for a run so I figured the next best thing was to let you scare the miss's from behind the wheel, better you get hit than me!

that was fun we all need to do it again. jumping back and forth from north to south campsites ate up alot of time for me so next time we all need to camp together or just meet up on the dunes but I will be over at the cowboy camp for sure, if not for any other reason the it's quieter and out the gate you are at the big dunes right off the bat. I was thinking about the first week of oct that is as long as there is no fall break or special event or party week or anyother what ever going on. I was thinking maybe sat or sun thru wensday of the first full week of oct, how does that sound?

dunebound you think you can make it this time w/o the flu bug?  I might need someone to pull me in lol ( ya missed a good time ) and after the stories I heard about glenn running the the ridges I don't want him towing me back like that  :o ;D lol! YOSHI mark this date on your calender, set time aside and make sure you have a rail ready ( this next time ) lets go ride!!!!!!

last but not least enemy!!!! ya I got to be the first to say it , god I wish I would have been on the dunes with the camcorder when you rolled that redline revolt! lmao lol  ;D.
those are the most unstable things I have seen in a quite a while. by the next night the guys that brought them down to promote them flipped one end for end and the kids rolled two more about the same time!
that was a fun trip, had a blast but I should have spent more time on the dunes with you and doug rather than drinking beer and shooting the breeze at the other site! next time for sure we need to get a few hill shot competitions and wheelie comps a few trail runs with out the bark embedded in my tire  ;D lol, I knew I wasn't going to fit between those trees but I made it.  :o

I can tell you that you don't want to go down over fall break or Halloween unless you like an over crowded park and a bunch of drunk kids on quads! I don't think you could've seen my rail from over there and ya I didn't get the flag put on as a matter of fact I still havn't unloaded them out of the trailer. I've been feeling a little ill the last 2 days. I don't think the sun burn is helping any!

Damm DS I spoke out of line again. Just went to AJ's webb page and they do not offer the in line shifter for the 091 unless you have the bug convertion nosecone on it.   AJ SPEED SHIFT SYSTEM

TRANSWORKS IS PROUD TO BE A DEALER FOR THE AJ SPEED SHIFT SYSTEM, THE SLICKEST SHIFTING SYSTEM EVER INVENTED. IT CONVERTS ANY TYPE I VW, MENDEOLA MD4-E, OR MD4-2D TO A SEQUENTIAL SHIFT PATTERN, LIKE A MOTORCYCLE. IT IS A HYDRAULIC UNIT THAT IS ESPECIALLY NICE FOR MID ENGINE APPLICATIONS. ARE YOU TIRED OF PLAYING GO FISH FOR GEARS WITH AN AWKWARD MECHANICAL ROD OR CABLE SHIFT SYSTEM? NOW YOU CAN THROW ALL THAT AWAY AND INSTALL THE AJ SHIFTER UNIT WHEREVER YOU WANT. YOU SIMPLY RUN 2 HYDRAULIC LINES (STANDARD BRAKE TUBING WITH 1/8" FITTINGS) FROM THE SHIFTER UNIT TO THE CONVERTER UNIT, WHICH REPLACES THE STOCK NOSE CONE, AND YOU'RE READY TO ROLL WITH NO MORE HUNTING FOR GEARS. IF YOU LIKE THE SAND DRAGS, IMAGINE HOW QUICKLY AND EASILY IT WILL BE TO GRAB THE NEXT GEAR. YOU CAN PLUMB THE SYSTEM TO PUSH THE SHIFTER FORWARD TO SHIFT UP AND PULL BACK TO SHIFT DOWN, OR VICE VERSA, WHICHEVER YOU PREFER.

THE AJ SYSTEM IS BEAUTIFULLY FINISHED IN A NICE CONTRAST OF HIGHLY POLISHED ALUMINUM AND SILVER-GRAY METALLIC POWDER COAT. IT COMES WITH THE SHIFTER AND CONVERTER UNITS COMPLETELY ASSEMBLED AND READY TO INSTALL. DETAILED INSTALLATION AND BLEEDING INSTRUCTIONS ARE PROVIDED, AND INSTALLATION IS VERY SIMPLE. AJ IS CURRENTLY WORKING ON A CONVERTER SYSTEM THAT WILL WORK WITH OUR MD4-2D MAINSHAFT BEARING UPGRADE. WATCH THIS PAGE FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS ON THAT.

A J SPEED SHIFT SYSTEM                                  $1495.00

NOW INCLUDES PREVIOUSLY OPTIONAL REVERSE LOCKOUT SYSTEM!

Sure!!!!!!! Gene Berg Enterprises.  Part number BUS600 A and BUS600L This adapter replaces the factory bus intermediate housing and coverts it back to the standard reliable sedan nose cone. Then all you need is the AJ kit to finish it off.  Don't know some one else mite be building these now to.

Iffen power went out.  Here is page two for the adpater.

I see it also on the current site.It says that he shelved it in 83 but now maybe??? it is now. Doesn't really matter for now tho since I'll only be using reverse, third and fourth. I MAY after testing out thoroughly in 3 and 4 try out 1 and 2.IF it holds to that I'd likely do the conversion and sequential shifter.

Hey Artie, the best dunes in Aus are on the east coast closer to you than LS is to Doug (if you're somewhere near where I think you might be) - They are in Port Stephens, normally referred to as stockton sand dunes - about 180km north of Sydney.  RV rego and CTP are avaiulable through the RTA and you need a permit from the local council (which you can buy near the entrance for one day or for the year).
