22hrs away for me. Making plans for 2016. I looked at google maps. Pretty big place. Is it the place for 5.5 gallon tanked gas hog like my Revolt? I am not so sure how much I will like the wide open large dunes. I really like shooting the small dunes at L/S. Riding walls and rolling peaks and all of the trails. I worry it might be like riding a go-cart on Daytona speedway. I top out at about 80 and that is screaming at8200 rpms. Not good to hold that all the time, my shit needs to rest every so often.
And it looks like I won't have DS's slow, broken, crippled ass anymore to guide me around when you all run away from me. LOL

24 hours for me. Watch the vid of the east dunes from Idaho Dunes resort to Sand hills. Pretty fun ,run around 30-50 mph.Miles of rollers and peak transitions
-
:'( :'( :'( 30 hrs :'( :'( :'( I just imagine the miles and miles of sand awaiting my arrival. And a few nights of celebration. ;D

My tank holds approx 12 gallons. I've had no problem so far. I keep an eye on it tho. Distance from end to end is around 12 miles or so IIRC. That is from Sand Hills resort to the area of the biggest dunes. From Idaho Dunes, where we stay,to the same area I'd guess about 8 miles.

I'm sorry guys but I have to do it.
7 Gallons round trip for me.

I guess getting pushed is better than getting pulled. I wish there were trails there. That would level the playing field. kick rofl rofl rofl rofl
I may have to look at fuel bags. I have heard they make them to strap into cages. That is a little scary though. Of coarse my fuel cell is between my legs anyway. I will just start mocking up a new aluminum cell and go to 7.5 gallons. I have plenty of time before next year.
-
You would have zero problem keeping up with any of us in the smaller dunes. In a lot of ways they are more like trails.

i was reading the rules ( link in first post ) and it says we need either a valid registration sticker from idaho or our state...... does that mean a nebraska parks sticker for us or do we need to buy something there?
-
No one ever checks on that SFAIK. I just show up and run.

Never heard of this rule. Never see a smoky either. Idaho ain't like Glamis. California is broke so they need money from the pep's. Idaho ain't broke so they don't need to fleece the masses. This should be my tenth year or so and I have never seen anyone check for paper.
-
-
Sticker, ? What you mean...lol
up until last year it was not required of buggies, as they were undefined.

and for 2015? Anything change we need to know of?
-
your stickers from where you live are all you need. That said I've only been checked at the egin access. never seen blm at idaho dunes.
( just my personal experience )
I have not stickered up yet since I redid my car. i guess the new rule just requires you put your own stamped number somewhere on the chassis to ID from, not a bad idea really
-
Looks like buggies fall under "special off highway vehicle" and require a sticker from your state or pay the $12 for Idaho. I dont want any head starts with :police: :police: so I'll prob get a sticker. Turned over a new leaf and really trying to fly under the out of state BLM when possible. Think of it as a get of jail free card? ;D rofl ;D

Kansas doesn't do that. We have no requirement.WHere did you see that? I did read where we could/should? get the Idaho out of state sticker but WTH do you buy the thing?

Think this is it; https://idpr.idaho.gov/Renewal/PermitsLogin.aspx
Its worse than reserving a campsite.
-
Not that I can tell.

Looks like that site is for a regular vehicle sticker.
Purchase Annual Motor Vehicle Entrance Fee Sticker for 2015
The Annual Motor Vehicle Entrance Fee Sticker
This $40.00 Sticker allows you to bring your vehicle into any of Idaho's 30 state parks as many times as you wish during the calendar year without paying the $5 motorized vehicle entrance fee each time. The annual MVEF will also provide nightly discounts on camping.
This sticker is primarily available for Idaho non-residents who cannot take advantage of the new Idaho State Park Passport program

Same here. IF anyone finds where this supposed Idaho OHV registration sticker is to be found I'll buy it but ,until the damn thing is easily and readily found where to buy ,they can kiss my arse. I've spent way too much time looking for this phantom sticker .

Pg 8 on form, or 10

That permit is for city/county road use I believe Carl. We don't use roads getting to the dunes. I sent a pm to IDRV.They will know if any permits are needed on the dunes. I believe there are no permits required unless wishing to drive on/in the roads/forests/etc..

Clear as mudd.

Got this back from IDRV:
Hello,
>
> The Idaho Bureau of Land Management requires that out of state motorized
> vehicle users must have a valid registration sticker for the state in
> which
> they reside or purchase an Idaho "out of state registration sticker."
> These
> can be purchased at many of the local motor sports businesses in the area.

> Idaho Dunes RV
Well, whoopty doo!!! How about telling us what fooking businesses that would be? I sent a reply asking just what those businesses would be and contact numbers. WTH don't the camps sell them if they are required for buggies now? This shit just pisses me off to no end. No real info on any state site and no info as to where to buy on the net. Personally I'm likely to just say screw it. As fast said, there are no rangers to be seen and we won't be on any public roads.

This is all I got in return . I just LOVE how a person asks several questions and gets one single answer. I guess IDRV doesn't give a shit. Typical of camps everywhere. thumb down thumb down thumb down thumb down
Wes,
The Pit Stop which is about a mile away from our store and they sell them.
The Pit Stop is 208-390-9454. They can let you know their hours of operation
and more information on the stickers.

> We are from out of state and do not know what businesses you are
referring to . Could you give us names and numbers of said places to buy? We
have 6 of your spots rented for our group with you. We are arriving on
Sunday night Aug 23. We want to ride first thing Monday morning. None of
us are going to be happy if we have to spend a morning looking for some
stupid sticker to buy. Are there not places to buy
online? I have looked till I'm about to say screw it all together
since it is not clearly spelled out on any state info site. Can't find
anything other than for watercraft and sleds. Some of us have been coming
for years and have never had a sticker in the past. Is this something new
this year? Since this sticker is a requirement(?) why do you not sell them
at IDRV? Not trying to be a pain, just need good info.
Thanks,Wes.

Yes , it's at the lake. Have you gone to the ice caves? I wish it was closer to the sand, cool there.
-
I can't find any info on when this sticker requirement for buggies came about. Is this new this year? Was it a requirement all along? Was it just not enforced? Is it enforced now? It seems like no one knows a thing about it or at least won't say.
-
OK I sent Todd AKA I'm Sorry a pm. He is the caretaker at the Sand Hill's Resort now. If anyone would know he would.
Quot from Fast to IS
Good morning Todd
Our group is coming up in August to spend a week and we are trying to find out about the off road sticker program that Idaho has. We have never put or purchased any kind of out of state stickers for our sand cars. Kansas,Nebraska,South Carolina, Michigan all the states we are coming from don't require a sticker on ORV's. Is this a rule that has been on the books for years and no one gave a rat? Or has this rule just started being enforced? We here that the stickers can be purchased at the pit stop. Do you know the cost? and can they be purchased on line> Thanks and good morning.
-
OK here is reply's.

Most of our cars don't have a vin# because our state's don't require them. So what is the stranded procedure to get a sticker with out a vin?
No big deal just fill out the form the best you can, they just want the $12.00 and they give you the sticker
Sound like we all will need to dune up to The Sand Hills Resort asap when we get there. $12.00 bucks sounds a lot better then $40.00.
-
Where are you getting the $40 cost at? Pit Stop?
-
The price I saw for the SOHV sticker was $12 too. Dont mind the $12, but if you guys been running there for yrs wo I'd rather spend the $$ on a steak!
Next we should try to find Jimmy Hoffa's body, think it be easier than damn sticker info.

No doubt. It's ridiculous that IDRV doesn't sell them if Sand Hills does. Kind of pisses me off. I mean I'm not opposed to buying the damn thing but it shouldn't take hours of searching for it and bigfoot to comply. I'm thinking eff it. Take my chances, sort of like paying the dune fee at LS. LMAO.

Just got a call from the guy at the pit stop. He won't issue the sticker unless there is registration or vin info. He says he hasn't seen anyone this year even be asked about the sticker. Says he would just ignore it like we have in the past. He has stuff to put numbers on our rails but
says, behave yourself and don't worry about it. Cutting cookies in the parking lot or camp or pissing in the open( ;D ;D ;) ;) ;) Carl) might get their attention but otherwise,no real worries.
Here are their hours though for any interested. SHort drive to the pitstop on city roads, longer to Sand Hills.
