Title: L/S fall 2013
Post by: Carlriddle on August 05, 2013, 01:40:18 PM
I'm hearing some dates for a fall get together!  And while I'm 50-50 currently because of a move to a new to us house and the expenses and time that come with that, heres what a litte birdie is wispering.

Week of Sept 30-Oct 7th.
Cant find anything going one at LS as the LS forum is down and out.(miller Graphics' one)

Fook friend. I may have to decide which 2 of 3 4 things I do. ST.A/LS/Vets Day @ the pole/ and Sh*t  I forgot the granddaughters want another LS during fall break that comes a week or 2 later than those dates. No way can I do it all. Hell my boy and D in L is having his/her second kid the week of or week before we are scheduled at St.A. Already paid for reservations there. What to do,what to do...............eff!  8)

That's in the top 3 runs I've ever had at the dunes.  The night run where Don was leading was a great run too!!
Title: Re: L/S fall 2013
Post by: dsrace on September 08, 2013, 09:04:05 AM
I guess don sold that ww toyhauler and bought I think a toter home? deano would have to say for sure since don is a friend of his. I am not sure if don has that same rail still or not either. that was a damn good run but the best night ride I ever went on was with the v6 rail when shane led !!  as long as I could see the ass end of his rail going over the dunes I just kept on him since I can't see very well at night  rofl  the funny one was when I told craig watch out cause I can't see at night and he though I was kidding until he remarked how we almost hit a tree stump climbing  a hill out of the trails in the dark and I said what tree stump, he was shocked and at that point you could see he realized I wasn't kidding!!   rofl

Yes that was the thrown tree ride.  It got a little skinny, that's when Fabr backed out.  The deeeep blow sand hill thru trees with a stump right in middle of top. And the fat ass prickly friend blocking the trail.   LMAO

That's the one I took out when there a few months later if it was about 8" in diameter and a bit rotted with a bunch of scrub brush almost hiding it . Came blasting out of too tight trails before I narrowed buggy up a bit and blew pieces all over the place. Weren't you guys there that time? Hell I don't remember.

The one Shane and I went on waiting for DS and his flat tires was  :o :o :o.  At night I just watch the whip or light as they flip over top and thats how I judge where peak is.  Shanes lights never flipped over, they kept going up, up, and away.  He had flown a good 50-60' before landing.  1 bent A-arm and a great story.  LMAO LMAO LMAO Too much liquid courage? ? ?

took the rail out to abuse it a bit before the next trip and it ran the best it has yet but caught a rut drafting sideways and well popped my shoulder when the wheel caught. I'm thinking real hard about power steering now lol

mine doesn't weigh that much but my shoulder says it's needed lol it was a freak thing but I know the eps would've made a diff.   I have talked to two guys that added them to utv's and they said it is an amazing diff but there apparently is one wire that you hook up to get the assist per increased load and I guess if you disconnect the wire it is full assist full time.

well finally cleaning my work space so I can pull the front tire off the rail to find out what I did when I hit that rut cause it goes flat in less than 48 hrs and there is no dirt or grass sticking out of the bead. 2 piece cms rims with beadlocks so maybe I disturbed the silicone they use to seal the center.......boy wouldn't that be fun to fix!!! lol

I assume no burn ban I effect?  Clark back to peddling wood yet?  Hoping not to drag cross country.

very sad news about Clark the wood guy's bizz.  Him and the owner of Sand City and the quad shop (Lance)  got into a pissing match and Lance told Clark to stay the f##K out of Sand City.  Gave the wood bizz to his brother in law.  After all the the things Clark has done to help them out at the park Lance had the ball's to kick him out.  Talked to Clark last Friday night and he said that He might just get out of dodge.  he has a small lot of wood left and don't know if he is going to replace it.  He was pretty bummed when our wood deal fell thru with the guy that Wes had set up.  I am a little worried about him right now. He has had two summers now where he has been down as you know. Summer before last was the big pile up and last summer him falling off his roof.  I think he  is just down and needs to rest a while.  He has even talked about not fixing his sand car that needs a clutch and selling it and the trailer.  I for one will really miss seeing him run around on the back two wheels with that checkerboard orange and white buggy.  So to answer your question,  I don't know if he will have wood or not.

PS
He got some calls form people in Sand City that wanted wood and Clark told them they would have to call the complaint department,  then gave them Lance's phone number.   That didn't go over well with Lance.   drowning. We are hoping that things will cool down and Clark will get back to selling wood at Cowboy and Deuces again.

See you all in a couple of weeks.

well the front shocks are re-valved and re-charged!!     I bought these shocks with the same valving I have run on all the other rails 60/85 and these are 2.5" instead of 2.0's. so they were too stiff so called mark at mark sand trans and talked with him about it along with suggestions on enemy's. so before the last trip I changed the compression to 45. made a bid diff speeding the compression up and at 270 psi, but when I hit the rutted area's from many many rails and quads running by, it was like riding on rocks still, just stiff.  so I thought I needed to slow down re-bound ( any one have any thoughts on this one? i'm at a 2 to 1 ration on wheel to shock and have been using all but 2" of sock stroke). talked to mark again and he said he thinks I need to speed up re-bound to 65 so i'm going to try his suggestion since he's good! so now i'm 45/65 and we'll see what it does but i'm taking all my valve stacks to change if needed.  lol  ;D

Well it's all over.  Back home by six o'clock today and unloaded.  Carl left last night after the dinner and got a head start on his long drive home. John got up early this morning and was off for Nebraska by seven thirty AM.  Brain and his better half left shorty after that.  Sylvia and I made one more run to the dunes and then loaded up.  We had a good visit with Clark the wood guy and his his wife before we left and Wes and Gail stopped by for a short visit.   Good time for sure.  No big brake downs.  I had a fluke dead battery and never give me trouble after that. John had fun doing wheelies in the all the lakes at the base of the dunes.  had some rain just before dinner Friday but all clear for the icecream feast.  We'll start rolling out the GoPro stuff in a bit.   Brian got some interesting footage with his GoPo mounted on the back lower bar or his buggy.  More later.  I think i'll get some much needed sleep.

never a bad trip!! fast tell your better half thanks for dinner it was fantastic, ice cream was great!! fabr we'll have to get more riding in next time once the temps drop below 65*  ;) ;)  ;D  rofl your rail ran great. fast sorry I didn't make a morning run with you two but out of gas and just needed to get loaded and on the way home. wind coming home was bad, I70 and I80 were a breeze.....78 mph no problem but north bound well lets just say 15 lbs to 25 lbs of boost all the way at 7.5 mpg!! lol and anything over 70 got spooky cause it was a dead side wind and blowing my dually side to side lol parts of hwy 156 weren't bad though. just before I70 in a curve a rig caught some wind and crossed the center line and put me clean on the shoulder to keep his tail from hitting me and thank god I was only pushing 62 mph through that turn or that could've been ugly lol. I got a lot of footage and enemy does too. his is frontal footage so as soon as I get that to mix with my rear footage i'll put them together. after the rain stopped you couldn't have asked for better temps and traction!!  the 92* days were on me pretty good but 70* with a breeze is perfect. ok for all that haven't driven behind fast...... don't need to drink just sniff his tail pipe with that e85 fuel it smells like pure grain alcohol  rofl  wow when you blasted past me wow!  rofl   fast's rail runs damn hard and fast and you can flat out drive so now thanks to you i'm going to have to add a turbo to mine so I can try and keep up  ;D especially if i'm going to make st Anthony's.
good friends and good runs and good camping trip at the dunes for sure!!

after all these years of going to LS  I have never payed enough attention to know where I am at and where I am going so when you guys let me lead well hope you have a full tank of fuel cause if I do I don't car where we go or wind up nor do I know  rofl rofl as enemy and carl found out once we made a complete circle and wound back up at south camp gate and they asked me where are you going  rofl rofl

I beat ya by .5mpg DS!! woohoo huh? The trip down couldn't have asked for more perfect weather, great day for a drive. Homebound totally sucked..or blew....like usual  :'(

The days in the sand were friggin awesome though!! Smooth sand, small crowd, and a good downpour to pack the sand and add to some fun puddles and the bottom of the dunes. Felt like I was back home on the Platte! Thanks for the vid DS! Awesome vacation!!
Jeffco held up well, last days runs I loaded it down real good and outside case temps were respectable. I ran out of time to get an internal oil temp probe set up so I could log it, so still want to run it more and get some better data.

Fast stuffed our bellies with Enchiladas and ice cream Friday eve.. I haven't eat much since! Thanks again Fast!!!
Another pile of vid to get through, gunna combine the Spring and Fall trip
Had a great time all, cant wait for Spring already!!!

Just got home. Awesome time  in the dunes but for Sat afternoon when it was horribly  chopped up from all the SXS's and the fricken wind . Fast told me about the witches eyes and just wicked whoops at the top of the dunes from the wind on the wet sand blowing uphill ,backwards of normal, roughest sand I've ever ridden on by far. Never ran into witches eyes at the dune tops before. Weird ,for sure. Just brutal late Saturday. IMO,this trip was the best overall weather, day and late night times, of any I've had. Got another 3 days there ,end of this week and then again end of the next week for 3 days. gonna be burnt out after all that. LOL!!!!
