Title: Fall Trip to LS Sept. 23 - 26, 2010
Post by: trans man on June 13, 2010, 05:01:36 PM: OK, DS and me were talking about a fall trip to LS and these were the dates that we come up with, Sept. 29 - Oct.3. After the wet and cool trip to LS last year in the fall, we thought we should move it up a few weeks. So if it's wet again it won't be so cold. 8) 8) 8)

As for me I'm not into making it ON snake hunt or Sandfest unless you want to have to dodge idiots all the time. Weekends before or after are good though.

I have "rescheduled" many of my kids benchmarks and holidays so I can have a life AND give them what they deserve also. I don't think either of them were scarred for life. Everyone also needs to understand that a smalll child doesn't care if it is celebrated early. Hell a teenager doesn't care. They only care that it happens. Soooo,take care of the child AND your OWN life. Neither needs to miss out on any of it.

The last couple of years with her, I have learned that it's the little things that count. All you guys are so right, they grow up way to fast!!!

I'll start bringing her down when she's 4. I don't think her body can take all the bouncing around out on the sand dunes yet. And I don't want to have to ask anyone to watch her so I can go out and play neither.

I think I am going to have a passenger this time as well. She got wind of the trip! Oh well I won't have to cook. Got to get the new motor in the rail. 10 psi at 5500 rpm, I don't think the old one will make the trip.

I would say so if you want to make the trip! sounds like you could make it work if you wanted to but as far as the rev, I personally would try the electric myself just to see how well it would work but that's just me.

even the ranger had a smile on his face as he was looking at me passing him on the trail while he was in the truck heading to the gat. I guess pinned in second or half throttle in 3rd is a little fast. lol so when he honked and motioned me to slow down I did! lol ;D

no I was not doing that with a trail full of quads either.

Post by: dsrace on July 19, 2010, 08:44:41 PM: I'm using adobe 3.0 premiere but it doesn't support hd go pro so I had to use sony vegas 9 to convert before editing! they want $599 for the program online and dunebound found it at office max ( I think ) for $125! lucky sob but sony vegas 9 doesn't have an option to burn dvd so you need anoher program to do that. adobe premiere elements does and is real easy to use, sort of like editing for dummies which has worked out well for me thus far! rofl but I have downloaded a free copy of the latest adobe premiere but have not had a chance to try it. either than that doug can hook you up with a go pro hd, I think they are great for the money! there are better systems out there but they are more than I wanted to spend. I guess they are coming out with a screen for the hd go pro so you can see what you are aiming at like a digital camera but I don't know when. it will be great to see you and your crew down at LS as well!

I dunno if you are serious or joking here but I would still recommend a lil trailer even if you had to make a quickie one.

I have seen MANY guys towbar a jeep or buggy a long ways into Silver lake and after a "lil" to much fun shear a wheel off or bend it BAD and then it does not tow so well on the way back home.

If there is an oops getting it on a trailer will at least make the trip home possible!

Ya I need to get on the ball and call. Been taking care of problems here at the shop. Trying to keep my old air compressor going until this fall. Think I'm going to have to break down and get a new screw compressor. The heat has taken it's toll on my old twin pump this last couple of weeks. Grimm's got his water I got triple digit heat with index's in the 110 to 113 degree range. Air conditioners working over time wiring melting out of the compressor motor. Bla Bla Bla.

I don't know of any contributing editors in Waynoka. That's not saying there mite not be any. Just that I don't know any. I'll call Clark Bliss the wood guy and see if him or his wife knows of any. You can submitt pictures and articles all day long to Sand Sports Mag. Whether or not they print them is a crap shoot.

He has already pulled 2 of his rentals and I believe sold them. He still has 3 or 4 he rents out. I talked to some people that rented from and they said his properties were $h!tholes. So I found the other guy down there that has property. Wish me luck. It is suppose to be better managed and maintained.

Call Dueces Wild. They have a house they rent right at the camp. My buddies and family stayed thee last time and were quite happy.

Clark and Karen Bliss the wood guy and his wife from Waynoka was up at my place Sunday and I was talking to them about you guys renting from that SS guy. Clark said that you should try and get your money back now and find something else. He said the guy likes to double book and then send you to another house that he has that is a pig stie. Last couple that he did that to he would not give them there money back. The house he had rented them had no air conditioning and the stool was plugged up. He said that beings he had the other place available he didn't have to give there money back.

I guess that he had some Brochures made up that showed some nice log type cabins that he was renting down there. People rented them and when they got there the rangers told them that they were nonexistent. Guy never had them built but was renting them. Sounds to me like we need to tie some dental floss around his family jewels and drag him out the south gate all the way to the north gate. kick kick

Can you be specific which rental company it is? I know the one guy is shady but not sure about the other. If I new the name of the company BEFORE I start on my inquiries it would help a lot. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks Fast. That is who I WAS going to rent from originally. I went with the other company there. He is the County Commissioner there in Waynoka and I laid it on the line for him last night when I talked to him. Explained the cost of going and it being my first trip there and that I fully expectrd to have a good time and that I will not be screwed with. He said he knew who I was talking about with the double bookings and crappy houses. He assured me it is not him and that he has been in public service for 30 tears and I will not be disappointed. I was feeling good til he said he was in public sevice. ;) I found someone else who has rented from him and they said he is on the up and up. They also said that Dans propertys ARE $h!tholes. Soooo I should be set for a good time. IF for some reason we decide to have a "bonfire" with, eyes oh, I mean at the house I will let you guys know! eyes ;D Thanks again for looking out for me too make sure I enjoy my first trip to L/S.

ya I'll be at cowboy too along with quite a few others because the showers and bathrooms are over there and we don't have campers. I will be leaving early wensday morning the 22nd I believe but if my daughter doesn't go I might just take tuesday off and head down early tuesday morning. it would be nice to all stay in one spot but untill everyone gets campers or dueces installs crappers and showers we're over there. I have been looking at toyhaulers but haven't found anything that fits yet plus I will have to sell mine first to get one I really want!

WELL, since I'm the first to return (Friday night), I suppose I could fill everyone in on the fun filled weekend!!

South Winds at 20, gusting to 35 trying to blow me back home (I got 11mpg versus the 15 to 16 I usually average on this trip). That and the occasional thunderstorm popping up here and there made for a pretty good drive... So far so good!

The wind and rains the dunes have been receiving built some of the best sand piles I've played on at LS since I have been hitting it for the past 10 years!! ..IMO... Motor's running very well! Pulled up an almost effortless 60mph "wing destroyer" running down Sand Highway. I puckered and backed out...

Dammit I just got the wing straightened out! Painted! And would like a bit more time and tuning on the mill before playing too hard..I got 5 days right!??!
Then, heading back in, upon decell load I noticed a new noise.. "Interesting" I mumble to myself, knowing in the back of my head that the Jeffco is toast. Sure as shit, it is.. Day one and I just got punched in the mouth. Well, I have a buddy's Raptor to screw around on for a few days, Ill be good.
Day three... Buddies Yamaha 450 bike with 10 hrs on it is jacked between 2:30 and 6:00 am from our campsite. Another kick in the balls..

But I got to take a quick run in Fabr's rail! (Thanks Wes! That's gunna be one sick-ass ride when you get her dialed in!) and I was in the company of some of the best people a guy could ask for to play in the sand with. Another awesome vacation! Great to see everyone!

P.S. To the candy-ass bike thief.. May you break down in the desert and have vultures shit on your rotting corpse. You POS. wrong forum

I handed the phone to DS on this one. No secret that I have not had the best of luck with dealing with Jeffco on the phone in the past. IT worked out well too. We now have much more information about the FNR, its past problems (and why they exist), exactly why it fails along with the fixes that are going to be made. Its coming out and receiving around 16 updates. I will be sure to post up the results of this evolution!

It was some streetbike friends of mine from the Omaha area. I like that cable idea!! Give the thief a few seconds of hope before he is having his face planted a few inches into the ground surface.. Very nice >:D

fabbr , well what can I say but that was a sick ride! love that rail, power is great but air time is fantastic! once you get some new valving and imo take the secondary coils and move them up to primarys and get heavier secondaries it will be right on the money!! I got to say that last jump after watching allans boy make it up the dunes on the go cart was when we bottomed out and cracked that slider, I think it was on my side. lol I know it was running lean but still running hard!! about that go cart, he drove that all the way to south camp and had no money on him to pay for a band, they wouldn't let him back in so he hitched a ride on a rhino back over. I can't even imagine riding that across the dunes let alone out the gate!!!!!!! now that's dedication!!!!! ;D tell ms's fabbr to start on the 40 oz curles and she'll be able to lift that ramp gate in no time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 LMAO LMAO

glenn I talked with you friend clark several times, great guy!! sorry we missed you but we had to get gone sat morning, but we did try to take an early morning ride but it was sooooo foggy I couldn't see 15' in front of rail so we gave up and loaded up!

I got some footage to post later on but everyone post pics up so I copy them!

LOL!!!!) for pushing it but I did give it a pretty fair try out for a first outing. Sping slider problem turned out to be the crossover collar set screws that were blue loctited in came loose and the spring screwed them down too far so as to coil bind then explode the slider. Figured that out on the second one. . Guess why we took that hit. BTW,it was on my side. Personally I think I MIGHT need a bit higher rate primary for front an rear but valving changes will come first. Dammit guys,Dueces HAS to get some showers built so we can all be at the same camp!!!!! We just don't get to see enough of each other. I wouldn't mind staying at Cowboy Camp but it's just too small for me. It was GREAT to meet the new faces also,sorry I'm so bad with names but THANKS GUYS for making it out and hope to see all next time!

Only thing broke was plastic spring sliders. Everything else performed flawlessly =============except for being deadly lean over 5K but ,what the hell,I still ran it waaaayyyyy too many times to 9K . Stayed the hell away from redline and instant engine death. Pretty cool having an AFR guage in the center of the steering wheel. LOL!!!!

no that wasn't me, I have a 95 blue f250 powerstroke and a white enclosed. I guess we'll see you in late april if you can make it! I know yours wasn't done but I hope to see it later on.

Was really hoping to get a ride with Enemy this time, not. Probably best so not to piss my pants. DS, that was a great burger, thanks. Dunebound sorry you had ride problems, but was great to meet you and "mom". Hell I told three poeple she was your wife, she looks young I guess. Met up with Deano and his gang again, great group of folks. Master's buggy is unbelievable, and when the shocks and fuel are tuned in, oh my God!! Got a quick meet up with Fast, super great as usually. Met up with the St Louis boys and got a great look at those Revolts.
Had a great time and I will not be able to come back w/o Candice. She forgave me with the help of a few gifts. We will see in the spring.

(I believe his name is Shawn, & he has taken over FNR business after Jeff's passing) He is telling us 4 "Trips" to the dunes, play hard, than he would like payment. He guarantees the box (with upgrades) to handle 350 rear wheel hp. A couple owners are pushing 450 hp to a box testing it out supposedly. It really REALLY sucks on the wallet but I gotta try stay positive about it cause I feel that we are FINALLY gaining more knowledge about the Jeffco and what it can really handle.

Met up with Deano and his gang again, great group of folks. Master's buggy is unbelievable, and when the shocks and fuel are tuned in, oh my God!! Got a quick meet up with Fast, super great as usually. Met up with the St Louis boys and got a great look at those Revolts.
Had a great time and I will not be able to come back w/o Candice. She forgave me with the help of a few gifts. We will see in the spring.

carl damn nice to see you again and next time I'll give you a fun ride in my rail. oh by the way thanks for the bag of bbho jerky you left on my hood! it's a little hotter than I like but I couldn't let it go to waste! ;D

ya 16 depending on which one he has! it was a long conversation but sean gave me more info than old man jeffco ever did to both enemy and myself as well as what we could find on the web! yes he said enemy will make 4 trips before he pays!!!!!!!! sean said make 4 trips and if it doesn't break then pay up but if it does well we all know the answer to that! I know some may be skeptical and I would be expecially after all the $hit vendors I have delt with after 10 years of building rails BUT the tone of his voice and his immediate ability to answer in detail my questions and his ability to tell me what we were experiancing or enemy was with the box with out hearing it from myself was on the money! so there for I am optimistic about this sean and what he is doing! now this wasn't his box but he wants to keep it alive and is trying to make more and make the wrongs right with the origanals but that would be hard out of you own pocket when you had no profit off the earlier sales so cost of gears plus labor I think is fair at this time. he said he would stand behind the box at 350 rear wheel hp dyno'd! now bearings wear and gears wear but busted gears 6 month in shouldn't happen but the others are to be expected to a point. I hope he post up some pics of what he's doing and introduce's him self on here to share with all what he has found and is doing!

now imo, if he would install locking diff and inboard brakes as well as an external cooler for the box and it will stand up to the 350 hp he claims and I believe it will, he would have the market cornered as far as chain drive box's went!! ;D

Oh and in case your all intrested I started designing a new frame for the 2007 SC 3800 the cadd model is done and I'm putting it on paper now, I can't set still I always have to be building something. PS, if anyone has a cadd model of a 091 trans and a 3800 motor please let me know I would love to have it to design around.

hey I was wondering what happened to you guys! it was great meeting you and you bud! I know that sc 3.8 will be a riot and when your ready give transman a pm on building the 091 ;) ;)
sorry I didn't see you guys again out there and it's a shame I didn't get to ride with you but right after you left the v-8 rail broke a 930 and we towed him back to duece's by fabbr! hope to see you down there next spring.
