How's it coming? I need to know if I want to do the same!! ;) ;) ;D I'd like another hundred hosses in old blue .
-
Slow going and kinda fell to the bottom of the totem pole at the moment. (Life...go figure lol!)
Hope to at least set the motor in by the end of the month, that part is ready to go at least! I will use this thread to keep it updated! No thanks to Photobucket and their extortion tactics for photo hosting, they just wiped out entire tech communities with their latest bullshit.

Its a top secret stealth build, just like his little old man ranger.

;D
Well the new trans for the Ranger did eat into my fun money for the rail, but should not have to worry about any more picture windows in the side of a T5 case ever lol

my a$$ ! rofl rofl most little old men would $hit there pants once that efr spools and they get whiplash ;D ;D LMAO

They are rowdy little turbos lol!
And now... a pic floating around in me brain!
Kinda stealthy.. I dig it..

And something else that has been floating around my frontal lobe.. I think its a REALLY good fit..

hmmmmmm.......do i detect high boost e85 turbo busa baja bug idea's with the info and help of fabr's adapter box???????????

Maintain or make it street legal status. It'll sell way easier when you're ready to move on.

YES!! Thinking alike!
Also, I like my rail and it has been an adventure... but dislike ownership of something that never gets used but twice a year..
After a run in DS's rail last night, I am wishing I could jump in mine and take a run to the Platte river for a while and chill the evening away, got difficult to do last time because of the hatred this state has for people that want to drive perfectly safe homebuilt projects on the road.. draw state patrolmen to ya like stink on shit.. Pack of wolves they are.
County cops could care less in my area, just no wheelies down main street (had one tell me that LOL) but when I cross the magical line into Dodge county, the vultures start circling.. And the fact that I had an ..um.. "interesting childhood" in that county doesn't help things either..
So, need to get the project basics down lol..
(1) Exploit all the loopholes with this project to dive it whereever the hell I want. Just need a titled bug for the donor. I have a "VW TypeII" title and vin tag in possession as well ..
(2)Thinking more World Rally suspension travel.
(3)TurboBusaFabrCrossbreed on corn fuel
-
I especially like #2. I've had the same idea for a while. RALLY-Hell YA!!
#3 can be made to happen.
-
well a 1.3 would beat this 1ltre lol

I'm gunna have to watch a couple more episodes of that, interesting ideas in that build!
Sent a lightly used set of iD1000's from a previous setup on the 2.3 back to Injector Dynamics to be modified to Hayabusa spec, an injector they sell for GSXR's.. Just so happens to be a cut down version of the ones I already had. Damn fine injector. No more secondary injection to run this motor on boost..
-
that looks like it will fit your needs nicely! there are lots of diff videos on youtube about road rally. they dont go as far on heavy reinforcement as i thought they would on those chassis and susp

If ya have time to kill while at work, I have been getting a kickk out of these two Brits, doing a crazy conversion on a Mini. "Project Binky" lol
British humor makes me laugh..
There are 15 episodes and I don't think they are done with it yet.

SUMBITCH! I've been watching that goofy fooker for the last 2 hours. He's got some skills for sure. I'm pretty damn impressed.
-
That build table is slick as shit!!!
Oh well there goes Tuesday..........
-
it is and this guy has done this waaay to many times lol
-
A goofy inspirational fooker! rofl Mad skills! I haven't got through all the episodes yet, definitely using a shore horn to cram all that in though lol
-
I'm on episode 9 and am very.very impressed.
-
And sooooooo much done with basic tools. A true garage build.
-
to almost all dts member as in 99.99t.....yes all normal garage tools except the chassis stand ....maybe lol but to the vast majority of the population....hes got state of the art restoration tools . yep had 2 of those customers already too. he does fantastic work though
-
Great, now I have another way to waste my time in front of the PC. It is funny, and yes, pretty cool fab skills. I'm only on episode 2, and it is supposed to be 101 here today, but not in the AC shop.
-
Made it thru all 15, damnit when the next show!!!!!!!!
And we broke 100 today, think that first. Oh and the lovely 85% humidity of the SE!
-
On 9...
"Needs must when the devil vomits into your kettle" .... WTF
rofl

You'll like the power tilt front end............

hmmmmmm.......do i detect high boost e85 turbo busa baja bug idea's with the info and help of fabr's adapter box???????????
Yes, maybe that's the right goal

ECU is assembled and tested on a massively boosted Busa compliments of Tony Finely. He did an awesomely bitchin job!
MS3pro for Busa harness
Onboard wideband
SD slot for internal logging.
Hoping to have the motor set next week, now that I finally have all 4 tires on the trailer pointing in the same direction lol
But first, I have to go find out how long Pandas live!
-
Oh my!!! This things gonna be awesome!! Shotgun.
-
You got it! Just gotta vac all the moths out from DS's pasture lol They are now attacking the drapes on the garage window..
A pic of what got removed going to this ECU. Electrical box is looking a little vacant now!
-
I felt a disturbance in the Force a couple month back,, couldn't put my finger on it.. Thought it may be the butterflies of trying to get this damn car to the dunes. Nope.
Then it finally dawned on me today what it HAD to be.
Project Binky, episode 16 was uploaded!!!

I looked for a new episode just before he posted it. Wish I had found it then. I'm very impressed with what he has done and the fact it takes him as long as me to do do a project............... ;) ;D ;D
-
Maintain or make it street legal status. It'll sell way easier when you're ready to move on.
I'll buy it
-
well we have a number of members doing some substantial work to there rails this winter......enemy's updates as well as carl's and big daves will be interesting !! saw some pic last couple days.
-
Yes I suck at updates, Enemy has too. LMAO I'll do some now....
-
Hey now, I updated a Binky episode!
Ok ok.. I get some pics up.. shhesh

Going to do a massive change to the Busa intake system. Individual throttle bodies and turbo systems work ok to get the job done, and can run "good". But I believe, from a tuning/drive-ability standpoint, they are a total PITA to get them to run "right" and there will be a large improvement going to a correctly sized and designed plenum with a single throttle body. This especially holds true for the environment this motor lives it's life in and the tuning strategy I'm somewhat forced to use on the MS3 with itb's. Factory ecu uses "alpha N" for fueling and spark, throttle position/rpm based.. Works great on an NA bike motor. Add boost and fueling the 100+kpa gets interesting. So aftermarket ecu's employ a strategy with a map sensor to read the boost level and fuel/spark accordingly. In the MS3, it's called "hybrid alpha N". Basically, a Speed Density strategy using TPS as a fuel modifier and it works pretty good. Problem is, the itb's on a bike motor tend to create a noisy map signal, and fueling resolution is limited below 100kpa because of throttle blades in the intake runner cause an instant switch to upper kpa when opened. The TPS modifier is there to help combat this with its "switch point", but one again resolution is limited for my driving environment.
Single throttle body with correct plenum for the engine displacement and I will go to a true Speed Density tuning strategy. AND i will get to incorporate an idle motor for cold start! No more feathering a throttle pedal till 120 degrees LOL
Basing the design off a couple years of dreaming about it and one of the best intake design thread a guy could ask for.
https://www.theturboforums.com/threads/intake-manifold-design.361799/ (https://www.theturboforums.com/threads/intake-manifold-design.361799/)
There is a wealth of info in there and some fantastic intake builds. One guy linked that John Kaase intake vid that Fabr posted showing how noisy the intake tracks become.https://dtsfab.com/index.php?topic=5547.msg91281#msg91281 (https://dtsfab.com/index.php?topic=5547.msg91281#msg91281)
First up is gutting the throttle bodies, with larger fuel rail. Going to weld the throttle shaft holes shut. Also the intake bells that will be in the plenum directing air to the throttle body/intake runners.
-
very good info
-
Oh boy, this should be good!! I heard a little something about this endeavor.
My throttle bodies just got back from welding too, damn I need to take some pics.
-
Haven't had time to read it yet. I'm sure it is a good read. Hurry up with the pics already guys!!
-
its a long read but very imformative one. boost engineer has an extensive background in the field. 1 other poster has a healthy background in it too.
-
Update!
I have discovered that the Busa motor should fit mid-engine, so onward and upward with the build!

LOVE those Binky guys!!!! You started on the baja thingy yet?
-
Still dreaming up a few things, DS has a couple bug bodys I need to look at, and from the sound of it he has the suspension design in the works
:)
-
Cool!!
-
always like the red green shows!
-
I have a buddy that always calls me red green. I wonder why? Must be the beard........... LMAO
-
hmmmm i don't know....how much duct tape do you carry around with you?? LMAO

EPISODE 19 of Binky. Did anyone notice they put main kill switch on the battery negative cable???????? I've been saying for years that much of the world does it like that. Opposite of what we,here, insist is the only to do it.
-
i did see that and that is backwards of what i would do but really when you think about it...why not?? :nw ;D ;D
they really went over the top to re-locate the alternator and pump! damn!
-
If a person really, really thinks about it with no preconceived notions,it makes more sense to neg switch the main kill.
Ya,the alternator relocate is truly out of the box for sure but not so much for aviation.
-
no doubts on the aviation part but on there build! rofl
yes i thought about that on the ground side as the disconnect as far as it being a more forgiving mounting application. when i say that i mean you don't have to worry so much about isolating it from touching ground. ;)
-
Consider this-if you pull the positive off a battery while charging what happens? Pull the negative off a battery under the same charging load ,what happens?
-
There's more, too.
-
Still dreaming up a few things, DS has a couple bug bodys I need to look at, and from the sound of it he has the suspension design in the works
:)
on this subject.....has anyone really looked into the top end shocks being used on the sxs's? fox shocks in particular. the 2017 thru 2019 maverick x3 uses fox prci podium shocks! 2.5 front ( 10" stroke) 3.0 rear ( 12" storke) , 2018 and 2019 on the 3.0 rears. 2017's use 2.5 rears.
-
They have begun to get serious on suspension design for sure.
-
now i believe the 2017 has 22" travel and 2018 and 19 have 24" travel. the 2 seater is 1600lbs wet and 4 seater is a hair under 2k lbs wet. the turbo x3's are a turbo charged 900 cc acer engine. so i have been watching for used shocks off the 17 , 18 and 19 models. piggy back fox 2.5 coil over with internal bypass's and qs3 (FOX 2.5 Podium Piggyback shocks with QS3). the fronts on teh 2017 model are 10' stroke but 2.5 shock. rears are 12" stroke. on the 18,19 models i don't know yet. fronts are still 10" but they don't let that info out so i have asked a guy to measure his, so we'll see. they went to 24" travel ( 18,19 models) so it will be interesting to see if they have leveraged them farther or went 14" on rears.
https://youtu.be/HBjZu3TfjF8
now other models and older x3's have the x2 shocks. they are cheaper used and very good shocks! there enough people totaling the other for a good source of parts.

-
isn't this the shock on your sxs fabr?? if so what stroke are they on front and rear? anyway i figured for enemy's baja turbo busa build ...why not buy a set of used ones and install them??
https://youtu.be/ipcxw0X3G3A
-
the boc part of these fox shocks is interesting as well.
FOX's innovative BOC is a position-sensitive compression adjustment that only affects the last 25% of travel. This independently tuned compression adjuster uniquely protects against bottom-out events, even when your high- and low-speed adjusters are set light.

1 does. 3 have diff.No idea on stroke. They are all bump/rebound adjustable but only one has the good ones.
-
well next time your close by measure the stroke please. i think these would make great rails shocks especially for the lighter builds.
-
OK
-
I'd consider these for my buggy if they're at least 10" of travel. 👍
-
the 2017 mavrick x3 turbo are 10" stroke. i am not sure how many other models are.
