I agree 100%; but I am not a big fan of head wounds.

That's why I am looking for stuff that does not look like complete crap.

I agree on the safety section...I'll talk with Bug and Fabr about it...I was a safety engineer for Cargil before I got hurt...I've used those...they are way over priced for what you get...And the velcro doesn't hold up well...You have to vacuum it an comb the shit out of the loop side I use the full wrap stuff with zip ties and 200mph tape, It washes easily and you can cut the tape, with arazor knife, when it needs replacing...
Day racing has a kit with every thing in it for about 35 bux last time I checked

I need half bar for some of it as if I do it, i will also pick up the area next to the body panels - do you have both kinds that day does?  ie: mini and half in black?  mini would work well next to body /hand wrist area.  half for the noggin area - I have roof panel, etc that won't allow full bar pad.

Ouch!!  All padding may not be created equal....  Pool noodles are real cheap, but only available in the summer.

And are not energy absorbing ::)
If your going to take the time to use it apply it right, Tke thickest part goes towards where you may come into contact with the tube...This sounds stupid...BUT LOTS OF GUYS JUST SLAP IT ON AND CALL IT GOOD
All can be trimmed to fit around body panel...I know most of us aren't allowed to have sharp instroments and most are only allowed crayons to write with...But pull the body panel...mout the wrap around...zip tie into place...set body panel back up against it...TRIM ...adjust zip ties...tape on hi-wear areas and re-mount body panels and your done...the tape comes in 6 colors or better and is durable and somewhat fade resitant...
It really isn't that hard

Here's the kits I buy...
It's enouph to do 3 buggies, have zip ties , and tape left over..
The bonus is if your allowed to have a shap tool you can trim to fit...or use it as a hot water tube insulater
