If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

Well, the tear down is complete.  Not as good as I had hoped for.

Tobiism:

well the tear down didnt go too well on the engine.  Case needs work- 1 main case stud pulled out of the engine because the wrong fasteners were used and it galled up the threads.  One main case stud completely stripped out.  The case was not decked for the 94mm cylinders.  The case was so sloppily covered in RTV there was no doubt it would have gotten into the oil pump.  It had the wrong oil screen in the sump that would have led to oil starvation.  The lifters looked like they were faced on a belt sander, the cam bearings are shot and look like old reused units.  The rods did not look rebuilt but will probably(still need to be inspected) be okay, the crank and bearings looked serviceable.  With the step in the heads and from how far down the pistons were in the cylinders it looked to be around .185 in deck height along with semi hemi heads!  Probably had 6:1 compression.  All in all one of the worst rebuilt engines Ive seen.  However, if Kenny finds the case to be serviceable it shouldnt take too much in parts and labor to put it back together.

Conundrum:

Thanks Matt and Perri!

That engine is going to need some help. Crappy rebuild. It appears to have a standard sized bearings though. The Case had one of the Studs unscrew with the nut and another had been cross threaded when the nut was put on. Too bad it wasn't the one that backed out! LOL

I'll let one of them elaborate as I really don't know enough to sound intelligent. Lots of silicone in places I don't think it should have been , around bearings, etc. the lifters also appear to have been sanded with a belt sander. I guess one of the Oil rings was also installed wrong..?

Thanks guys for the hard work on what is arguably on of the hotter days here in Phoenix.  On the bright side we are almost on a downhill side.

Ok let's put on our big boy pants and move on with this project.  Here is the first rough graft for the carburetor top.  Give me some feed back as to what changes you think should be made.

Leave it natural aluminum with clear anodizing.

Leave it natural aluminum with clear anodizing.

Probably just polish and then engrave.  Touch it up after with some white compound after.
