yes it does and yes it is UJ !!   someone posted that video and article on one of the camper forums. looks like it happened in oklahoma and i have seen how far and fast a trailer with no pin or chains can go. had to flip one back on it's wheels after we got it out of my mothers pond by someone that was coming down the road!!

DS if they were haulin ass down your road that would explain why it came unhooked!  bounce

My double axle flat bed has substandard safty chains.  Chicken shit welded on, maybe 3/16 chain w/crappy S hook.  They're too short and I've streched one of the hook out.  Guess I need to move that up towards the top of my to-do list.

I was talking to DS the other night about trailer balls.  nono My trailer has 5200 lb axles, 2-5/16" ball hitch.  Try to find a ball with a GVW of 10k.  95% are rated at 6k and I found 1 that was 7k.  bs1 bs1 bs1

You have more balls than I do ,Carl, talking about balls with DS!!!!!! ;D ;D

 rofl rofl

well that's were the weight distributing hitch comes into play on adding to the weight limit on balls but most only have a class 1V hitch. like i said carl if you would just quit jumping your truck and trailer off of bridges you'd be fine  LMAO LMAO

I knew someone would go there.  ;D

So a WD hitch would allow a 10k trailer to be pulled by a 6k ball?  Legally?  I'm ok with my setup, as I'm only about 7k loaded, but saw a triple axle toyhauler with a GVW of 14k, 2-1/2x ball limit.  Got me to thinking.  A Dangerous thing.   rofl

But I will have a new build thread (rebuild) in next couple weeks.  Been kinda slow here, must be frost.

I think I posted about something on this site http://www.airsafehitches.com/receiver_hitches.html.  All these hitch's don't mean diddly because you still stick them into a 2 inch receiver.  That's going to make some jack wad think he can buy a 2500/30000 lb hitch and make his half ton truck tow a 30000 lb trailer.

lol and there's the funny part!  rofl your right there are soooo many of them out there too, that don't read the info or understand it on there site.  in order to do the job you have to buy the rest of the components they sell  like the stronger recievers. carl is right they still don't make a ball rated for more than 7k lbs and I don't see one advertised on either site where they have made the hitch accept a gooseneck ball that has a much larger shank for added strength. and the info they do provide is lacking in  more basic terms as well. the class 5 receiver is rated at 14k lbs gtw  but that is only with a  weight distribution or load leveler with it as I read it anyways. 2.5 " receiver and hitch on the larger lbs ones

here it is and who among us would like to pull this beast!! lol carl found this on gd.com and I read through the posts to see the 4 6k lb axles were the cheaper option over 3 8klbs axles so there are a few of these out there in quad axles. that would not be fun with truck and one post said the original owner used a f650 and still got a ticket for over length law!

I wouldn't want to tow that thing with anything less than a semi. Turning with 4 axles would grind some seriuos tire.....

this is funny on one hand and yet not at the same time because there are people that actually believe this!!!!!   I can't help but read some of the posts on camper forums and it becomes addictive because there soooooo funny!!!!!! people swear there tundra's pull fifth wheel campers weighing 10k lbs loaded just fine!! just fine but don't say where they go or what speed and when asked they don't post but they will tell others that  rofl rofl rofl rofl      I am not well like by a few members on a specific camper forum........who would've guessed

carl found that post with the ad in it over on gd.com and several of the posts there say it was no fun to tow very far so ya 4 axles would not be fun but the ones with 4 axles are the ones the customers cheaped out on cause there are several comments on the heavier 3 axle set up that was offered but more expensive.

Now all a guy has to do is find a way to raise the front and back axle when the speed gets below twenty or so.  So they would be up for a turn.   rofl
