Everyone Must Be Having a Great Summer
« on: June 01, 2019, 09:45:18 AM »
I guess everyone ,like me,are too busy having fun to do any buggy stuff??  Well,I've been to the dunes 3 times since our gathering .........................  Getting the SB2.2 ready as well. Gonna run the 360inch Nascar config till it dies and then bolt the upper end on the 434 lower end for next year.

i've been cleaning and tearing a basement wall open to find a leak in the wall. been sooooo wet here and haven't pulled the rail out of the trailer. need to so i can get the trans re geared but between trying to keep up on mowing and a water leak it's been a challenge. going to go visit dunebound69 today. he's in the hospital with blood clots in his lungs from the latest round of chemo, not good. we also got invaded by voles this year so been poising every hole i can find!

You got moles and we have gophers @ LS. The damned things fill up the water meter boxes to the top! Gopher mounds all over the place.

When you see Dunebound say HI! for us. Sending best wishes to him also.

Tore the car down soon as I got home. Pulled the engine out and took the rear timing chain covers off to fix a couple of leaks.  Found out the new turbo was toast and am having a new one built.  Going with a new ECM and moving all the electrical and relays up front under the hood for easier excess.  Going to go with a UMP air filter to try and protect the new turbo.  Also going to wire the new ECM with big cannon plugs for easier engine removal.  I knew my clutch was getting bad but found that it was plum gone and will need all new.  This clutch only had 12 run's on it.  Single nine inch is only rated for 450 foot-pounds of torque but was all I could get at the time down in Yuma.  Found one nine inch duel that John at outfront has in stock and will go with that before trying the triple eight inch.

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

I've been busy with mine... and family stuff, my little one graduated preschool 2 weeks ago.

New aluminum clutch cover. Sand is for fun, not floor dry.

New sprockets, went from 16T/48T to 13T/52T

Shortened my axles 3/8" per side as they were about 3/4" too long.

Built my Nitrogen shock fill station this past weekend.

Drilled and tapped my lower radiator mounts yesterday.  I'll be putting coolant in it tonight and checking for leaks.

Putting in my new engine fan switch this week.

Still have to install the new Corbeau Baja XP suspension seat

Add spacers to my rear skid plate... rear sprocket hangs low.

Replace Pingle shift module because my electric downshift isn't working.

Bigger paddles and beadlock wheels.

Tune suspension

Install rivnuts for the body panels.

Modify my firewall for more clearance of my wiring harness.

How do you like the pingle ?

Considering the first time I really got to use it was last fall at LS, I don't have enough time running it to say anything about the longevity of it, but what little I've used it was great.  Liftless shifting is fast and keeps my hands on the steering wheel.  I bought my unit used on Ebay when I started my buggy build.  I think I paid something like $550 - $600...

I've read mixed reviews on them, but now I know why the guy sold it, because the downshift part of the module wasn't working.  New module is something like $215 + shipping... kick

Hey Grimm, where did you buy the nitrogen fill kit from?

Hey Brother!

I built it.

40CU Tank _ Gas Cylinder Source - $112 w/ shipping
Uniweld RHP400 Nitrogen Regulator With 0-400 PSI Delivery Pressure _ Johnstone Supply - $52.99 w/ tax
Paintball High Pressure CO2 Air Remote Coiled Line 4500 _ Amazon (GFSP Outdoor Sports) - $10.99 x 2
Paintball Remote Line Quick Disconnect - Male & Female Set _ Amazon - $11.10 w/shipping
Dura Choice 1-1/2" Oil filled Pressure Gauge- Stainless Steel Case, Brass, 1/8" NPT, Center mount 0-300 PSI - $15 w/ shipping
Anderson Metals 06102 Brass Pipe Fitting Cross, 1/8" NPT Female _ Amazon - $6.33 w/shipping
Dernord Stainless Steel Mini Ball Valve NPT Thread 1/8" Female & Male _ Amazon - $11.99 w/ shipping
Power Tank CHK-4007 No Air Loss High Pressure Chuck with T-handle 1/8" NPT Schrader Valve _ Amazon - $38.45 w/shipping
Push Button Bleeder Valve 1/8" NPT _ Amazon - $11.93 w/shipping

Cost to fill at Air Gas $9.00

Total $291.00

It works GREAT!

Way better price than $599 for the Power Tank that has a much smaller tank.

I should also add the Gas Source tanks have been hydrostatically tested within the last 180 days.

Took me 15-20 mins to put together and leak test. 8)

See you all duneside.😎🤙

The downshift is not nearly as easy to accomplish as the upshift without damage to trans. Honestly I would caution against the downshift function being used. I can post some info as to why if you are interested.

I don't do clutch less down shifting... It would just be nice to keep my hands on the wheel.
