Tell me more,a LOT more, about that electric power steering assist I see there also if you can.
-
lol, what do you want to know about electric power steering, the one in teh pics is off the mgf since l am using the engine box and complete wiring loom as l need lights indicators etc it makes sense to use the whole shooting match,
much more common over here is the use of the vaxhaull corsa power steering column, ( GM ?? ) simple enough to wire up but it needs an imput from a speed sensor to adjust the amount of assistance it gives ie bugger all at speed and lots at parking speed, as this is a very common swap over here you can buy a little box that does this for you, it has a speed adjust knob on it so you can adjust the amount of help
have a look at http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p4522.m570.l1313&_nkw=corsa+power+steering&_sacat=See-All-Categories
for an idea on prices
l would expect there to be simalar your side of the pond ?

they are for sale all the time as they are the most popular choice overhere probally because they were one of the first cars to use electric power steering and they have been around for 10 or 12 years so theres plenty being scrapped/broken, you must have an eqiverlant cheap car that uses them ? car parts tend to be the same the world over,
Lee with the 800cc pilot uses one on his compertion buggy he seems happy with it dont think it has ever overheated l will ask him,
l used the mgf one on my last buggy and you could just switch the power lead to it off and it was invisible, wasent really needed on mud, will find you some pics
the corsa which the column comes off is made by vaxhaull which is general motors so l would be suprised if you dont have exactly the same item over there ??

For $100 we could all have power steering, thumb down GM Europe insists that none of the Corsa's components are transferable to the company's U.S. vehicles, and indeed the new cars' engines are built by Isuzu. thumb down
Looks like a Metro? a little.
