CVT Info
« on: December 30, 2008, 06:21:16 PM »
I thought it would be good to have a topic specifically for CVT drive and Driven clutches.  I am a newbie to CVT and don't know where to start with the questions, but I'll try.

1.  Where can you get them? other than off a sled or ATV.
2.  Can you get different diameters.
3. Good sites for info?

there is some variables in diameters, but not to much...sleds and atvs, or briggs and comets. Not the best choice there... Pipes are custom.. aaen performance has good tech info on cvts...

Parts= snowmobile forums, fxxk ebay, info google snowmobile cvt... what are you thinking of doing this may help, snow engine atv engine etc, atvs do not use the same clutch as a snow engine, they are generally not very tuneable either...were you live at in OHIO?

I was hoping to compile some info for everyone looking to put together a CVT drive.  In my case I have a scrambler 400 so I will likely stay with the polaris drive and driven, but if I wanted to change them out for something else, I wouldn't know where to begin.

gotcha, on that you just have to search for polaris mods via the atv boards etc...Like i said them are not very user friendly for drastic modifications...

I am really curious about what they use with the ecotecs, and what is the maximum ponnies they will take.

Actually my combine uses the same sort of belt to drive the Rotor.....  The belt has enough grip to kill the motor.....  I am sure its well over a thousand Ft/lbs.  I am sure the potential is there to transmit tons of power.  I just don't know if its been developed for our application.
