The rockwell scales can be cross referenced. Just take your modded sprocket to a local HT guy, tell him what the steel is and you want it HT to R45. Done.

Early zx9's had 12 spline shaft.  zx10's didn't, that I've found.  older z1000, z1100 used the 12 spline but in a 630 size.  Can get ofset one to fit those in a 14T 530 size.

If this one works out I'll have some made with the spacer and gear for the elec reverse unit I've been spying.

Hey I'm new here, but I have gone through the same sprocket issues as you. I have 2 things of advice for you.
1. since the sprocket is chromoly, I wouldn't even bother with trying to heat treat it. If you keep on top of your chain from time to time your front sprocket will last a long time.
2. Sprocket specialist has been very good to me. There is a lady named Deedee that is really good at cross referencing sprockets from different bikes. If she can't find a sprocket for you, you can send them your sprocket and they will match it up with sprockets that they have, AND keep a record for you on future orders. Jtsprockets.com is also a good place to do research.

True 4130 will not thru harden. It CAN be case hardened though resulting in a tough core with good surface hardness.

If Deedee is the one who answers the phone, while nice, she was no help all 3 times I called.  Kept hopeing for another cust service rep.  rofl

Talked to JT a few time too, they're not too far from me.  Lady never called me back.  I should have just showed up, but then  :police: :'( :police:

But the good news http://www.rossonracing.com/store/ has 13, 14, 15 in stock and lady said she could prob have a 12 made with next order.  They have many made same time.  No idea who/where.  $30 ea.  Having a 12t made local and will pickup a 13 from them.  I'll have $150 in the 12t from parts and machining.
