Bolts to the drive plate which bolts to the hub.

Finished up the sprocket and drive hub this week. I trued everything up while assembled. Then I drove in four 1/4 dowels (2) slip fit in each side plate and press fit into the sprocket plates. The side plates are marked for reassembly. (The only way to keep them concentric when you take it apart.)

Thanks guys, I'm ordering the Polyurethane and a 5" long 3" id Bronze sleeve bushing tomorrow. I'll part off a couple of large flange bushings from the 5" bronze. These will press into the sprocket side covers.
I also had the cv hubs and axle spacers roughed out on the waterjet. This will save a lot of time on the lathe.

Pretty straight forward Rick. Looks great!

Where do those bearings go that I sent you? You did get them right?

Are those part of the carier unit?

Later Doug

Only "issue" I can see is what are going to do when the sprocket needs replaced? Not gonna run down to the cycle shop for one of those.

Probably cut a new one out faster than a drive to the cycle shop.

I think it will outlast most other sprocket applications, because it's sealed and well oiled. I could also send it out and have it carb. hardened. Or just waterjet spares.
My plan is to only run a small amount of oil in the unit. Put new oil in for a weekend at the dunes. Then drain it and add new for the next trip. It only needs enough oil in the bottom for the chain to pick it up.

IF you could go with a slightly larger sprocket why not make the sprocket in the above pics a simple sprocket mount? (remove the teeth and drill mounting holes) Then take common sprockets and machine out the center and drill it to bolt to the mount? One round cut on the new sprockets. Have spare handy easy.
Your mission isn't to dive feet first into hell, but to make sure its crowded when you get there.
