Hey VW heads! Can you ID this tranny?

I am wondering if anyone can tell me anything about what this tranny may be?

Look to like a pre 69 bus, basically a type one swing axle.

Real early VW swing axle. Looks to get way back to early sixty's late fiftys maybe.  Got the the hog snout on the shift fork.  Most likely would not have sycro first in it.  The early bus had a split case. 

If I believe I cannot do something it makes me incapable of doing it. But when I believe that I can, then I acquire the ability to do it , even if I didn't have it at the beginning.

It MAY be a tranny but I bet it's a better boat anchor.  rofl On the other hand to some restorer it might be gold.

It's a pre 60 split case VW and it does not have a syncro on 1st. People like to call them a crash box. Fabr is right,boat anchor unless you find someone restoring an early car and that trans has the serial number they want. Then priceless!
