Hayabusa clutches
« on: January 18, 2010, 07:36:42 AM »
Well with a bunch of noobs driving the Barracuda the clutch engagement is starting to move up the pedal.  So I figure it's just a matter of time before it needs a new clutch.   What's good?, What's overkill, etc....   I saw some factory replacements last night on the web, I also saw some Kevlar ones and I saw some "7 second" clutches for like $200.

Also having never changed a clucth in a Busa and not having done a search yet...... is this some thing I can easily do in the desert at the campsite?

Kevlar and HD springs.

Kevlar and HD springs.

With the heavier springs I've read that you need to buy stronger hard parts (baskets and such) ?

No need in the least to upgrade the basket if staying stock engine. Now if upping the HP substantially....................................yeah,maybe so.

With heavier springs I HIGHLY recommend an aftermarket slave support (I run an APE). I've seen many slaves crack around the case from heavier springs. I run an OEM clutch and steels with 40lbs springs w/ no boost, and OEM clutch/APE 60lbs HD springs on boost. This combination has lasted longer for me than any other clutch on the market (drag racing and street playing.) Nice thing about this combo in the rail is I no longer beat the hell out of my wrist using the clutch.. ;)
