Title: Joining the ranks of the pressurized!
Post by: fastcorvairs on April 21, 2010, 06:44:43 AM
Will I scored a big one last night.  Been watching this engine on GlamisDunes.com for the last few weeks and finally pulled the trigger on it last night.  Paid a little more then I wanted to but a good deal never the less.  This should lighten my car up by about 150 200 pounds.  Built by Quirt Crawford from Crawford Performance it is tuned for about 400HP and with some work to the Motec it can be turned up to 550 HP.  Running nine pounds of boost now and the seller said that it is capable of 24 pounds.  jj:

I DO have a question though. How is the turbo supported? By the header only?

Is that the Crawford motor?  Sounded like a good deal.

With a Motec on it you probably did pay a pretty penny for it.........

Quirt does awesome stuff. These motors are pretty tame compared to the IMSA stuff he did back in the Electromotive days.

Are you going to keep it mid-engine, and is it going to bolt up to your tranny?  Now you will be more excited for the west coast dune trip.

It'll stay mid and will bolt right up.  Mite have some Clarence Issues with the headers with the frame rail.  We can work around that. I'll build a stainless steel window in the side of the car to run the exhaust out of.  That will put the exhaust outside of the car frame and down in front of the tire.

First of July.  When I get back form vacation.  Motor adapter fly wheel clutch and PP and Ignition. And the exhaust. Whole nine yards for $4500.00.  Ignition alone was $1300.00 from CBM motor sports.  It will come with the intake and the K&N intake filter. No extra charge for the green engine cover.

What's the HP at the flywheel? What clutch are you running 8" or 9"? What pressure plate stage 2 or 3 ?

Can't say what the rear wheel HP is.  CBM told me that most all of the none true short stars run about 250 to 270 HP with the after market Ignition and headers. Clutch is eight inch and the pressure plate is stage three with the Berg three puck fragmatic disk.  That's the only disk I will run.  Adapter and flywheel are Kennedy.

Is that CBM ignition similar to a MSD ignition?  8) 8) 8)

No.  This is a Delphi ECM. CBM can calibrate it for what ever you want.  You want more RPM CBM can remap it.  Got it set at 5900 RPM right now.
