FOX 2.0 Coil Overs versus FOX 2.5 Coil Overs
« on: October 26, 2009, 10:54:08 AM »
I have a 2200 # Woods play car and I am in the shock debate.  Obviously the 2.5s would be the way to go if money and fittment was no problem.   My delima is first off the cost difference.   The other is I don't have enough room for the 2.5s with out a lot of modification.   So my question is will the 2.0s do the job well and last etc.  Most of my riding is at lower speeds in the Woods.  The terrain is however very rocky.

The 2.0's will be just fine.

Or for the price of the Fox 2.0's you could have FOA 2.5's.......

Speaking of FOA's,what the latest opinions of them?

Just to add Bias weight to the equation.
Front  -   700#  Have Fox 2.0 coil overs on front now.
Rear   - 1500#  Going to 2.0s or 2.5s coil overs

BTW Doug I sent you a PM for pricing on the 2.0 and 2.5 coil overs.

Based on my research they appear to offer a decent product.  They have only been around for several years and I can only assume there quality control has gotten better. On the negative side, there demeaner sucks and they will not talk to you on the phone.  I would prefer to talk  to some one so I get a better feel for the product. The best thing they have going is the price.

I run fox 2.0 coil overs on the back of my v6 powered rail work just fine. I actually went down in spring rate and got better ride and performance. I think I have 275 upper spring and a 225 lower spring.  And still under 300 psi in the shock. And no bottoming out. You may get by with a fox 2.5 non coil over and save the spring weight.

Sounds like you are using Coil over air shocks?  Wow 275 over 225 on the rear! You must have a really light Buggy even with the heavy motor. Mine calalate to 350 over 500 for the 1500# rear

Rear engine 3.1 v6, 091 bus, 11 gallons gas and one fat ass driver(350+). Frame is 1 1/2" 11 gauge wall. It is no light weight. The shocks are Fox 2.0 airs with the coil assist. I see a lot of off cars set up way to stiff. I have never weighed the car. But it is 12' 6'' long and about 90" wide. The angle of your shock makes big difference on load capacity as well as how close to the wheel you are. A freind with 3X3  put on kings and went with their suggestions and has since gone to less springs. Enemy is running fox 2.5 airs without coil assist and is real happy with them.  My driving style is when in doubt gas it! Shock have been on the car for 6 years and never been open.
