Everything you ever wanted to know about FOA's is located somewhere in this thread. There is also a lot of BS contained within............

Thanks for the link. I only know of one guy who runs them. He is a fellow Woodsbuggy owner and friend. He runs the 2.5 piggy backs on the front of his Buggy. Keeping in mind that he offered to be a Beta tester for MotoChris on them. Being a Machinist by trade he was not pleased with the quailty of the first set. He relayed the problems to Chris and was sent another set that were quite an Improvement. He has been running them for 2 years and is very Happy with there performance. Another Riding Buddy and I are about to order a set each of the 2.5 14" coil overs with remote Res's for the rear of our Buggys to replace the limited Torsions and emulsions.
-
I got em on my Baja, they work great!
-
Do they tune like a King or a Fox or have a method all their own?
-
I believe they are valved the same way, but I have not had mine apart, I ordered them from FOA and told them the weight of the car in the rear and they pretty much nailed the valving, at least very close. I think I could soften up the springs a tad...
-
Fox and King each use different shims. I was wondering if FOA used one or the other or their own proprietary shims as King and Fox do.
-
Oh I see what you meant, I have heard they use the same style as the Fox's...
-
I've considered using them next time and I have a lot of Fox shims.
-
Can't beat the price, I got two 18" travel 2.0's WITH coils and all the billet upgrades for like $815.00!
-
Would you be able to post some close ups of them and the machining quality? I haven't looked lately but hadn't been able to find any elsewhere. No hurry but yesterday would be fine. ;D rofl
-
The bodies are not machined they are cast alum. That's where the cost savings are. I have heard you can replace the guts with king parts and they are much more tuneable
-
100% cast? including threads?
-
That is only if you don't get the billet upgrade. Every Aluminum part on mine are billet.. The threads are steel I believe, the end caps and such are billet if you order them that way and its cheap to upgrade..
-
100% cast? including threads?
The threads are machined.
-
The old ones, the threads were extremely coarse thread and yes they were cast
-
So they're a "normal "thread now?
-
I have not seen them on the shelf at the local shops for a while, all the ones they had were the old style. So im not shure if they have changed them. There claim to affordability was not paying for all the machine work. I am a firm believer of getting what you pay for. And after you pay for all of the upgrades to the FOAs to make them the same as other shocks I cant see them being much cheaper than fox or king.
-
I run them on my buggy and I love them. I wanted them revalved so I droped them an e-mail they said send them in and they did it for free I paid the shipping there and they paid it back good people to work with. Check out my jump video.
