It's been 10 years since I put the cam bearings in this CNC "race prepped" Bowtie block. Ya tend to forget some things in 10 years. Sooooo, it just happens to be the CNC blueprinted one with steel caps/priority main oiling and all the bells and whistles. Yup,it's a very nice piece,BUT,GM in their infinite wisdom also must enjoy just being dicks as well. EVERY small block chevy since the 283 in the mid 50's have ALL used the same size cam bearings. I mean ALL of them including ALL the bowtie stuff as well. All have the same ID but 3 slightly different OD's. Why is anyone's guess. WELLLLLLLL I forgot that ALL means ALL but the one ,lone ,bastard model I have. Must be because NASCAR engine builders of the 90's used this series of block. I guess their builders aren't smart enough to be able to put the cam bearings in their respective bores :m or more likely because they are influential enough to get GM to make all cam bores the same preventing any need to pay attention when driving them in. Just grab a bearing and slam it home. Honestly that's how all small block chebbies should have been all along. The problem is that to get the 5 cam bearings of the correct and same size you have to buy 3 sets and throw away 3 out of 5 in each set!!!! 5: beathorse.gif~c200 rofl rofl ACL used to offer the special set but nope,not today. Oh well,UPS loves me.

Oh the dreaded collection of buggy parts that won’t fit, won’t work, don’t look good! I had weeded my collection down until this last 3-4 months. Some just don’t understand lol

Yup,pretty absurd. Jeg's does offer their Jeg's branded SBC cam bearing sets for less than 1/2 the price of the Mahle/Clevite ones so it's not too bad to have to buy 3 sets to get what is needed. I was hesitant to buy them but they are made by King Bearings and the same construction as the ACL's I used last time.. I have never really been happy with the Clevite77 cam bearings upon disassembly inspection but I would not personally consider anything other than Clevite 77 H series rods and mains for any SBC or BBC. We'll see how the Jeg's/King cam bearings fare compared to the Clevites.

It would be nice if they would just spell it out. Kind of hard to know . I asked them where the BBQ was to be at and nothing but crickets. Honestly,it doesn't sound too well organized. It should be fun though to watch the goofballs tearing their stuff up.

it would be nice if all the info was in one place. one post. but to me, it looks like every thing starts at 9:00am Saturday drivers meeting . other then the jump/huck off contest. and its on Sunday a 9:00am. I don't see a meeting location???
