Title: CV Prep
Post by: Generalg on June 09, 2023, 07:55:35 AM
Did I mention I hate CV prep!   Somehow  I always end up with more grease on me vs inside the CV's.      ;D

Idaho in 14 days!

You need a spray cabinet parts washer like I do.  Makes a nasty job almost fun.

Are you still making a trip to Little Sahara for tuning, before your St. A trip?

I need lots of stuff.  :D

I need to go for a quick day trip but not sure when. Possibly this Sunday...?  Might just haul the car 18hrs to Idaho for testing and tuning.

Not looking forward to my greasy conversion to CV's in the near future, but the benefits over U-joints will outweigh the mess I hope lol

Please stop by and pick all of us up on the way to Idaho.
That is all. ;)

15 mil latex gloves are your friend.  BTW,I used Swepco 164 open gear grease .Much easier than the swepco/belray combo that has been the go to for many years. Lots of good reports on theSwepco164 alone. Comes in a caulk tube. Will use Swepco 165 that comes in a grease gun tube for "topping off" my cv's at the transmission with zerks between services.  The midboards will get the 164 by removing the bearing caps. Seems like the easier it is the more it gets done. Imagine that.

right there with you on cv grease!

i hate cv grease!

i had not heard of swepco 164 grease. i have been using swepco 101 for some time per a recommendation from deepbush.  i had been using cat gold before that but they changed the formula. both are horrible when you blow a boot  rofl looks like a cheapet  :m

st a is a dune i need to get back to for sure! i know you'll enjoy that trip.

Swepco 164 is basically the same as a 50/50 mix of Swepco101 and Belray moly.
