My thoughts are.....if you have to add grease, you should prolly be stripping them down anyway. I don't use the ez lube zirks on my trailers either. Take them apart, clean them, inspect them, replace, rebuild, or regrease. That's the only way. I'm no expert on cvs though.
If your the slightest bit handy with a drill, you can drill and tap most flanges for zerk fitting and do the same thing without losing any axle length/angle.The nice thing about being able to grease them while they are together is you can assemble them dry and grease them later. They pack very well this way and you don't have grease everywhere.
Cause if I have stale gas around then why not. I always do it outside in a well ventelated area. Oh well got to die somehow, why not as a big ass fireball!
